Why didn't they put 3.42 rear gear in A6 C6's?

That list looks like almost every box on the order form was checked.

You must be short on power if you stick 1st gear. I'm running a 2.56 and SO4's and 1st is only good at the track with Hoosiers. On the street 1st is a joke.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified
Well, you are never really going to get a tire with a 30 aspect ratio sidewall (IE: late model Corvette) to launch real hard on factory sized rear tires ... it just don't have enough sidewall to flex much.
If you want a hard launch, you need a big flexable sidewall tire > >

Do they still make them?

Here is a chart to help see RPM vs MPH for different gear ratios for A6's and MN6's:
I am going to do 3.15 gears in my A6 - quite a few have selected this ratio (3.15) combined with the A6 and absolutely love it

Thanks,Matt

I'm running a 4000 stall converter. If I had the stock 1800 converter I might be able to handle 1st gear better. I don't street race anyway, so it makes no difference. My power mods came a little bit at a time, but eventually 1st gear became a spinfest.

There is no doubt at all that a set of 3.42 rear end gears in a C6 / A6 Corvette will make for quicker 1/4 mile times than a set of 2.73 rear gears .. as long as the same tire traction can be maintained.
Another option is to just install a 'looser' torque converter ... you get a much harder launch do to the higher RPM the engine is operating at during the first 60 feet of the track.

With 2.56, my best ET was 10.89 @ 127. I would love to be at 10.4-10.6.

Obviously running a 10.89....127mph with 2.56 gears, is not from a stock C6........EX: a stock LS3 with the auto will run 12.8 at 116 mph....
