Default Help ... Not sure what to do ?

Ok .. So here the deal . My car was stuck in park
I did wired it so the lever would just stay pulled back.
As suggested on this forum . I also changed out the push button ignition switch . My button had a small crack in it. Figured dash was off why not. At this point Im ready to start the car . Nope .. The Remote stops working
lights start flickering basically and eventually goes dead. Ok bad battery no prob. I go have the battery charged . Still will not crank says FOB is not detected. Have a tech guy come out he hooks it up to some computer
that basically will reprogram your remote. Went through
the 10 min steps three times . Will not program .

So now at this point.....
My remote will lock the doors pop the trunk .
When I get in side it take a minute but dash lights come on
the starter button green light comes on ready to start . I push the start button it goes dead. Lights on dash go out will not start . Is it time
to go to the dealership ? I thinking about taking
It to covettes of Houston .If I can't get any other ideas. Anyone use them before? Suggestions ?

Sounds like you need a new battery, I know you said you charged it but once a battery drains so low there really is no coming back even though the charger says it is. I would try that first, good luck.

OP: what you describe in the last part of your post (after reprograming the FOB) are the sure signs of a bad battery. Had the same exact thing happen to me twice now in the last 6 years; in both cases, charged the battery, everything came on bright, pushed the button and everything went dim & car didn't start ... took batteries to AutoZone, checked out bad.

And to add, you never have to reprogram a fob that worked before.

But do I need to reprogram it since that guy hooked up to that computer system thing up and tried to reprogram it. My dash says FOB not detected.
Will this keep it from starting if it's not programmed?

And to add also, if the fob pops the trunk and locks and unlocks the doors, then it is programmed to the car. The whole thing sounds like low voltage to me. Low battery, bad connection at battery or starter...but low voltage.

You will have to re-index your windows. Takes seconds and is the only thing that goes away when you remove the battery.

Except the radio presets, sometimes. (May be an '05 thing)

But, I want to add that the fob never unprograms itself, and if any part of it works to communicate with the car, IT IS PROGRAMMED TO THE CAR. Reprogramming the fob at this point will only make things worse to diagnose whatever the problem may be.

Have you tried sliding the FOB into the slot in the glove box and starting the Vette?

What about the battery in the FOB?

Do you still have the "Old" push button?

You might have to pull the dash apart again and make sure you have the Push Button fully engaged.

But first try putting the FOB into the slot in the glove box and try starting it!

Thanks,Matt

Nothing changed !!! I took it to the corvette dealership in Houston.
Disply would read out.... Shift park .. Trid moving shifter back and forth .
Nothing.... Pushed starter button . It would go through all the systems checks .
Push button lights up dash is lit up . I pushed start button everything goes dead. Reads out
Shift to park ... Get out of car shut the door horn goes off 3 times reads out no FOB detected. Tried to reprogram nothing happened ..
Nothing ever shut down I would have to unhook battery.
I believe I have it at the right place now but I still would like to know everyone's opinions. Thanks everyone for the help .
