Default C6 anti sway bar

I installed a set of QA1 Coil-Over shocks on my 2008 coup and the sway bar hits the coils. Anybody have a similar experience and maybe a general cure?Name: 20160517_062005.jpg

Why is that leaf spring still on there? Seems to me if the leaf spring is removed it will allow the suspension to raise higher to maybe allow enough clearance for the end link and the sway bar. Beyond that I would communicate with QA1 to see if the coil overs require different sway bars and end links.

The leaf spring has been replaced by the coil overs...unless I've missed something, it should have been removed

Isn't there one leaf that doesn't appear to be bolted down just under the coil? No nut on the stud sticking up.

There aren't nuts on the c6 bolts.

What holds it in place? Not sure that's why the coil is hitting the bar though.

Spring pressure. The bolt is what holds the spring a given distance above the control arm.
The c5s had the rear nuts but the same style fronts

Thanks, I did contact QA-1 and they said the same thing, that the Coil-overs replace the mono leaf and it should be removed. I didn't know, wasn't prescribed anywhere. The learning never stops. If that doesn't cure the problem I will probably modify the mounting end of the swat bar by cutting it back a bit, grinding a new flat, and re-drill the mounting holes. Thanks again for all the input.

As stated above, the leaf needs to be removed, but I can't see that it has anything to do with the sway bay hitting the coil spring. Is it hitting the springs on both sides or only one? If it's only one, then it may just be that the bar wasn't centered when it was installed. It will tend to center itself, but of course no one wants to drive it with the scraping until it does center itself.

Yea thanks, I will check that out while I'm removing the leaf.

After you remove the leaf, you will most likely have to preload the spring high enough that it clears the sway bar end.

the guy above me is correct. The reason it's not sitting funny now is because you've still got the leaf spring in the car holding it up. You'll just have to crank the collars up high enough to clear the sway bar. Which you were going to have to do anyways, no reason to cut anything up

No problem. The coil overs are meant to replace the leaf spring as you found out. So when I saw it on your picture, I knew that was not right. Redrilling mounting holes for your end links may be something that you should not do as it will affect the handling as well. Enjoy your new suspension and let us know what you think of it.
