Default tpms sensor

Ordered new sensor 25758220 for my 06. Old sensor read XX and service tire monitor was on dash. Ordered a new one thru Amazon, supposed to be original GM sensor. Part is gray with the correct part number on it. Had it installed and still not reading the sensor. Now dash indicates the same message and flat tire, but I checked the air and its set to 31 psi.
Is there any date codes on these sensors that may be lying around for years in a warehouse? Anyone have any suggestions? I went to 3 different tire shops and all say the batteries must be dead.

The first question to ask is, did the shop that installed the new TPMS put the car through the re-learn process to communicate with the 4 sensors.

If they are all original, they are at the age where they might start to fail. Many factors can affect this so it's not an exact science.

Second question, are you sure the sensors are programmed in the correct order? That is, have you checked the other tires to make sure none of them are low/flat.

I don't know of any way to tell how long a TPMS has been sitting on the shelf.

If you buy them from someone who sells a lot of them, like a big tire store chain, chances are you are going to get a 'fresh' one.

Let us know what you find out.

The shops did try to re-learn but when the batteries seem to be dead it can't relearn. Put car in relearn mode, left front beeped, right front beeped, right rear (new sensor) no sound from the horn, Left rear single beep instead of double beep but we are assuming its because the right rear won't program.

I believe your assumption is correct and either it is the wrong one or the battery in it is dead.

Just put 4 new tires and new sensors on my '09. Sensors the AC Delco (gray) from Amazon.

The shop could not initially figure out how to program the sensors and took them several tries to figure it out- DIC read all four tires at zero.

Now reads correct and they track dead-on with my (trusted) mechanical tire gauge.

Have them find the correct instructions/tools for the sensors or go to another shop.

With a TPMS tool, the sensor can be tested to see if it responds before it is put into a wheel. The tool is a nice thing to have, otherwise you are at the mercy of the tire store and just have to believe what they say. It's probably best to just let the tire place sell you the sensor and install it...that way if it doesn't work, it's their problem.

Allen B any idea what they did? The shops I went to test the sensor to see if the battery is good before trying to program. Unfortunately I did not have the sensor tested before it was installed.

cclive, none of the tire shops in this area sell GM originals, that's why I ordered one on line.
Every article I've read says use only Factory tpms units

They set the car into learn mode and used a hand-held interrogator to activate the sensors. The problem they were having was the interrogator was not actually connecting and activating the sensors initially. Was 100% operator error, nothing wrong with the sensors.

These are the ones I ordered:
Amazon.com: ACDelco 25758220 GM Original Equipment Tire Pressure Sensor with Valve Kit: Automotive Amazon.com: ACDelco 25758220 GM Original Equipment Tire Pressure Sensor with Valve Kit: Automotive

Allen B, Ok this is what we did. installed new sensor in the right rear, Put car in learn mode. Ignition switch on Acc. held lock and unlock buttons on key fob till horn sounded. Went to LF tire held tpms tool there until horn sounded, next to right front again held till horn sounded, then to right rear horn would not sound no matter what we tried, then to left rear but horn only sounded once. It's like the sensor needs to be woken up or as they assume the battery is dead. Am I missing something? Can't believe I got a new bad sensor and have to do this all over agaain

The reason that you got only one honk at the left rear was that the car thinks that it is the right rear and is still waiting for you to activate the left rear...so the programming sequence was never finished. Hopefully someone on here with a TPMS tool who is close to you will chime in..I would be happy to help if you were near me.

Been there. A few months ago I ordered 4 through Amazon and had them installed with a new set of tires. Not one of the 4 worked, the right part numbers but all had dead batteries. Had to return them and bought 4 new again from a different Amazon supplier and all were good. The second time I had the dealer check the sensors before they were installed

THANKS TO EVERYONE ON THE FORUM. Took the car out today now both rear sensors are not reading. Guess its time to replace them all. Prices for the sensors are all over the place. Very low to extremely high. Anyone have a good source

No, but they were exactly the same as the originals that came out. Same manufacturer and markings.

These guys really need to start putting a manufacture date code on TPMS sensors...it's just too easy to take old ones and sell them.
