Default Is it just me or does the GS Convertible remind you of a C3?

I've always loved the C3 Corvette. It was my absolute favorite car as a kid. Well recently I was shopping for my first Corvette and last week came home with a beautiful C6 GS convertible.

Driving and admiring this car, it really reminds me of the C3 Convertible. Mainly the '68 and '69. It seems to the that the designers included a nod to the C3 heritage in the car, even though the original GS was sort of a C2.

The C6 front fenders have C3 like curves above the wheels that look great while driving. With the ducktail spoiler and round taillights, the rear looks similar the early C3s. The GS has Shark Gills similar to the '68 and '69 (though three instead of four) and the flares also accentuate a coke bottle look like the C3. The GS chrome wheels seem a little retro to me too.

What do you guys think?

Probably why my two favorite corvettes are early c3's and wide body c6's.

I still think the C3 is the ultimate Corvette. The C6 (both WB/base) has a hint of the C3 when I am sitting in it (the front fender mainly) but I don't see nearly the resemblance when I'm standing from the outside looking at the C6.

I hated C4s, 5s and 6s for the longest time. Thankfully the C6 finely grew on me and I like them now but if I could get the C3 styling with all the current tech of a C7, that would be the best of both worlds for me.

I do believe the C6 resembles the C3 more than any other newer Vette...and I think that is a good thing.

I owned a '69 restomod big-block 'vert for awhile and should never have sold that car. Definitely my favorite bodystyle of Vette... but I'm happy to have my C5Z (original owner) and C6 GS still in the garage.

The early c3's, like the two previously posted in this thread, are the reasons why I became hooked on corvettes for life.

Wish I kept my silver 72. Prices on these have doubled in the last five years as well.

NOM 454 hand built by me, LS-6 pistons, solid lifter cam (282-s), align honed, balanced, blue printed with a Muncie M-22. Nothing but the best went into the engine. Car was originally an L-46

There are styling cues from all generation Corvettes in the C6 as it should be.
One of the standouts to me are the fender humps .
Check where they terminate on the doors, pure '65-'67.

You're right. I also think the triangular bump on the C6 conv. rear deck lid is reminiscent of the C2.

I really do think the designers of this car intentionally put historical cues into it.

Beautiful C3s guys! Like myredhead1 said, that was the car that made me love Corvettes for life as well.

As I read my 1970 LS 5 (pictured) at OCIR in the 90's ran right at 99 mph, 14 et, now my 2013 Camry SE V-6 is capable of beating it according to the Car & Driver reports Technology

I don't know where I read it but they (the article) read that the the rear window of the C6 suppose to represent the window of the C2 Coupe.

I see a lot of C3 influence in the C7. Look at the photo of NSF's former `70 and the C7 ZO6.

Nice photos... and cars.

I see the resemblance -

4 round tail lights
4 black tires
2 doors
they are both Corvettes
so yea - they are similar.
