They are not connected. It's not a fob problem, it's a door switch problem. You can try taking the outside door pad off and apart to clean the contacts. There is a thread in this forum explaining how if you search and there is a youtube video.
The garage door opener could be whatever brand opener you have is not compatible.

Default key fob c6

I found on both my vette and Silverado if you start the door up or down with a remote held close to the visor and hold the button on the visor in it programs. You can tell it's done when the door stops. Then try your visor button. Should work.

If the remotes say SECURITY+, your visor remote will work. If they say SECURITY+ 2.0, then it will not work. You can contact Chamberlain and get a receiver to add to the opener that will get it to work. 3 years is right on the edge...I believe it was around 2012 when they changed over.

Your visor is likely a Homelink...check this page:

All C6 fobs are interchangeable, so yes...sell it on ebay.

The physical keys are not. The two fob types have different key blanks. You cannot fit an early key into the later fob. You can, however, put a later key onto a ring with the early fob.

After writing the fob programming instructions, do I not know this? My point was that his used fob can open and start any C6, so it is definitely valuable and he should sell it to some c6 owner on eBay.
