"Is your car sick?'
Quote of the Week: "Is your car sick?" So there I was, car idling in the parking lot, when an older guy walks up with a look of concern written on his face. "Is your car sick?" he asks. "It doesn't sound like it's ok." His question caught me off guard. Ol' Grumpy, as I call my GS, was singing that song familiar to LS owners with lopey cams and headers. "No sir, it's growling exactly as it was built to do." This confused him even more and he walked away shaking his head. Probably a Prius guy who believes that cars should be seen but not heard. Happy 4th all, and a salute to all warriors out there, past and present!

Reminds me of four-plus years ago when we were at the dealer picking up my then new 2012 GS and my wife said, with a look of concern, "It sounds like it's running rough." My reply, of course, was, "That, my dear, is the sound of music." (Since then, the music has gotten even louder with the addition of the Mild2Wild switch.)

Years ago my buddy and I were gassing our Harleys up. He has a real radical cam in his and when he started it some guy came over and asked him what was wrong with it.
We just gave each other a blank look. What can you say?
We've thought lumpy idles were "cool" since we heard them at drag strips before we even had licenses. Neither of us realized that there were actually people out there who were that clueless.
When we were young we had some beaters that still had choke ***** on the dashboard, and we'd cruise through town with the choke out just enough to rough up the sound so all the other kids would think we had radical cams, lol.
That was pretty stupid, but not as stupid as people who think souped engines sound defective when idling.

How about using a clothespin to attach a baseball card to the frame so that the card rubs against the wheel spokes on your bicycle when the wheel spins, causing a bad *** sound?
Not likely to put Hooker, Borla, Corsa, Edelbrock, Crane, or Mild to Wild out of business!

Probably.
Offhand, I would say they were pretty much gone by the 1960 models.
They're doing some major work on a road near me, and I noticed the other day while going for a walk how young all the guys were.
No matter where I go, everybody looks young, can't figure it out. But I have some buddies who are 80-ish, I like hanging around with them.
