Default Driving Between The Humps

While enjoying a drive in my Corvette today and looking out over the view that includes those unmistakeable fender "humps" that I think all Corvettes have, I experienced that special feeling many Vette owners may have, smiling and thinking.."Ya...I'm driving a Corvette...and better yet..Its MINE!

So I'm wondering how many others have "that feeling" from time to time while behind the wheel of "The American Sports Car" or has it become just another car?

Put a rope across the hood from one tire to the other. Lean over the console and look over the hood. Walla, bikini bridge.

I do b/c I rarely see many vettes out and about. I see a lot of camaros, challengers, chargers, and a gazillion mustangs.

Here's one example for Ed.

Look past the mountains and stop before the thighs. Just use your imagination.

Every single drive... it's part of the "Vette Thing" that has been a design cue for a long time... timeless!!

Sometimes I feel a little stupid when I catch myself driving down the highway with a smile on my face. This is after 250,000 miles of Corvette driving over the years. I am going to try that rope trick and see if it works.

I've certainly noticed "The Humps" on everyone that I've owned! I've always enjoyed being there!

Never will forget the excitement of settling in between the humps on my first 69 coupe.. I was 25 and could hardly sleep without waking up and looking outside at that car.. I'm 66 now and sleep better but still love to settle in between those humps and mash the gas..

I've enjoyed humps IN my Corvette and I've driven my Corvette BETWEEN humps. But fender humps??? Nah.

Since my first ride in my step-dad's 68 corvette and having that view, I just love it. I always feel that way, weather I'm getting a ride in a C3, or driving my C6 with the same general shape. Just love the look and it always reminds me of special times with my step dad.

One of the car mags described the essential Corvette experience as "Batwing fenders and a roaring V8."
