SEMA is not open to the public, to register/get in you have to own or be an employee of an automotive related company. A good friend and I (as an employee) go just about every year; the last few years entry has become more and more restricted/controlled. Even after attending all these years, last year he had to provide two forms of proof of my employment. The only thing open to the general public is the out side 'car show'.
Here's a link to the registration page: https://www.semashow.com/category/tags/registration

Unless you have a buddy in the industry that can get you in, SEMA is a tough show to get access to. At least those of us who go every year usually post a lot of pictures. (I know, that's not helpful, sorry.)
Aside from the amazing cars on display everywhere, and the truly fantastic people you get to meet, my favorite part of SEMA is working good deals on display merchandise. If you take a truck and a wad of cash, you can save some big dough. I bought welders, toolboxes and an English wheel that way.

Yeah, that would be a dream attend. So close too. The drive to LV via 93 is a blast in a Vette!

Depends how bad you want to go. Just get a Business License for your local area, that is car related, which can include auto detailing, etc. Get some generic business cards. Apply for passes, and show your proof of just starting a business. Once registered it's always easy to reapply the following years as long as the info is the same.
