Default reclining seat question

Good day Everyone.
A quick question regarding the reclining seat on both the drivers and passengers seat. After I recline the seat and want to return it to a more upright position I have to do this manually by reaching back and pulling the seat back forward and at the same time lifting up of the lever on the side of the seat, is this normal? On every other car I've ever had all I had to do is to lean forward and pull on the handle and the seat back sprung up to meet my back. At first I thought a spring may be broken so I tried the passengers seat and it doesn't spring forward either. Is this normal? I have on 2008 lt3 z51 coupe.
Thank for any help you can give me on this.

Checked mine 11 G.S.

Not sitting in seat, it does spring forward from the reclined position. Not real (positive) but it does spring forward.

Mine 13 GS will "spring forward" but it's not very strong.

Yep....the operation, or lack of decent operation of said seats is part of the reason you hear so many people blasting the cheap seats and basically the entire interiors of these cars. Mine has only 25-K on the odo and have hardly any use on the passenger seat and it works sloppily at best.

In my opinion, these cars should have a power recline feature. I'd rather have that than the power trunk pull down.

mine springs forward. try w/o sitting in the seat if you haven't. If it does not spring forward with no weight on the back, then something is not right.

UH...how bout if when a GM exec tried out one of the seats when he was inspecting the finished product he said..."These seats are a big POS....lets put some better ones in here that work correctly". UH...OK....i'm dreaming....sorry.....

It didn't happen for the first 60 years... The C7 seats seem to be built much better, but I haven't checked the recline.

Both the seats in my 07 spring forward just fine. They only spring forward to the vertical position. But why would you ever need it to go farther forward while your driving?
Of course it rocks on hard acceleration also.

Actually, the seats in my 59 were not too bad.

My 11 GS is the same... No spring forward. I just accelerate to about 40, hit the brake hard and pull the lever. Let momentum do the job!

The seats in my 96 seemed more comfortable and supportive than my 2008, but hardly high-quality. The C6 seats are much better than the C5, but the cars deserve better.

Yes, but then again, its the "affordable" American Sports car....the sports car for the proletariat.....

The GM exec sat in the seat and said..."We're going to make a lot of profit on this seat!"

Just another item to make the car heavier with another electric motor. I'd prefer a good quality manually adjusted seat. Too many electric doo dads making these cars heavier than they should be.
