Bugs and Bras

Bugs and Bras
I just bought an 08 vette. I want to put a bra on for trips and was wondering if I should use the GM vinyl, cotton lined bran or should I spend an additional $800 and have XPEL film.installed?

XPEL film, mine cost $500 to do the bumper cover and the rear surfaces of the mirrors.
I've used bras before and they are just a PITA. They need to be on tight and not flap around or damage will be a problem. To take off and put on is enough to annoy the crap out of you and while it's off and your ready to put it back on, your finish better be real clean or it will scratch the paint.
Using the film, once on, no need to treat it much different than cleaning and waxing your car.

Novistrech bra works great for bugs. Goes on and off in about a minute and does not damage the paint. Unlike thick vinyl, the stretch material is tight as a drum and easy to install. I throw it on for trips to visit my son (5 hour drive) and daughter (7 hour drive). Small enough to store in the rear cubby.

I have a NoviStretch bra and like it a lot. It's very easy to put on and take off and to clean. I just hose it off or dip it in a 5 gal. bucket and the bugs come off. Rolls up or folds to a small size that is easy to store.

I just use soap and water, bugs come right off. My car had a clear bra on it (have no idea what brand). It was pretty ugly, lots of dings, turning yellow. Peeled it off. Just keep a coat or two of wax on now and wash, clean as necessary.

For 8 bucks I buy a roll of transparent adhesive backed shelf paper from home depot.. enough to cover the front about 2 times or 2 trips.
I get home and peel it off with all the bugs and road crap dirt and throw it in the garbage.. the front looks like it was never out of the garage.

I guess I don't want to look like I'm driving a taped up, shelf paper car. I have a stretch bra for mine (I'm not thrilled with that look) and just made another 1600 mile trip in some crappy weather...and no fuss, no muss, the front is clean. All I ask.

Stretch bra here too. I only ever use it on long trips, but it works great keeping the bugs off and saved my paint on the front when my wheel went down into a drain that I didn't see. Not a Novistretch, but one that I like a lot. Plus it's silver which isn't as noticeable on my white car.

I bought the expensive speed lingerie for the C5. It was nice, but for the C6 I bought the $100 black vinyl cover with white cotton backing. I think it was the GM bra. Works great. I can leave it on for 1000 mile trips. I have even left it on during car shows. I wax the area under the bra and lightly wipe off the wax, install the cover. Never had an issue with paint damage. The only thing that you see after removing the bra are the snaps inside the front wheel wells.
