Default Vitesse goes wild

I have a Vitesse controller installed on my 2006 Base C6. This morning I pulled up to bank and noticed it said A20 instead of the normal sp2 that I keep it at. I pressed the button to hopefully bring it back to normal and the engine began accelerating all the way up to 5K before I turned it off. My foot was not on accelerator. I restarted car and it threw a code about throttle problem and restricted power. I reset engine code and now it seems fine. I should have saved CEL code but did not. I was in a hurry. Seems a little scary. What should I do?

Check with Ahmed at Vitesse, he is very knowledgeable.. The numbers will scroll as you drive, but the RPM increase sounds odd. I have never had a problem with mine. I keep mine on 8.

The A20 indicates 20% throttle application. It should only show this when you have the throttle pushed down; the SP6 only shows at idle or when you are coasting with no throttle pushed. It sounds like you may have had a glitch with the throttle position sensor. I'd suggest unplugging the Vitesse, plugging it back in, then recalibrating it.

I don't want to think about what would have happened if it was in drive and not park.

I pulled mine out after it caused my car to throw a p2138 code and entered reduced engine power mode.

P2138 is the code I got too. Luckily I was parked with the clutch pushed down. I'll try pulling and re-calibrating. PIA though. It gets one chance. Then Ill do what Boomer said.

If this is more than one car where it's happened, and it seems to be, I can only wish that you don't run into or over someone or some thing.

Had mine for over a year and never an issue.

What was described here sounds scary.

Once is an anomaly, repeated issues a problem I guess.

The only throttle controller I need is the one that most people call their right foot.

My foot is my throttle controller. These gimmicks are just that. Uninstall. Learn lesson.

I was getting an error code and going into reduced power on mine also. I never experienced any engine surge. I talked to Ahmed at Vitesse. My problems have been related to placement of the electronics box (not the remote controller). Mine was tucked behind some carpeting. I moved it to a more open area and the problems disappeared. They came back and I noticed that the box had moved. Once I secured it in a good spot, it has performed correctly.

It's a neat device when it works. No need for the high and mighty attitude. You'd be impressed if you drove a car with one I guarantee it.

Interesting. I had my box tucked under the center console above the torque tube tunnel and I wonder if my issues were heat related as well. I'll never know, but maybe his instructions should be updated so that people pick better spots for the box. I thought I was being pretty slick when I tucked where I did

My car also experienced the "reduced engine power" when I had the Vitesse installed. I removed it, sent it back to Ahmed, and no problems since. Just not worth the chance of something happening as in the op's experience.

I have absolutely no doubt that what you and dozens of other users say is true -- that it gets rid of the lag. The stock lag is real and it's annoying.

I've been hesitating buying the controller for two years now because the rocket-science era electronics on these cars scares me, and I'm more comfortable leaving well enough alone.

Well I didn't take an official survey, just what I remember running across here.
