You said that you could not get the trans into neutral so that you could tow the car, that is what I was responding to.

I know the trans is not the issue, it's the fact that the shifter can't be moved into neutral.
There must be a work around for this, so that you can tow the car.

They told me you can only get to this from underneath the car completely jacked up.. its a chain connected to the trans?..

My guess is it's a cable, not a chain, but this seems what is needed to do, remove the cable from the trans so that it can be selected into neutral so that he car can be towed.

You can't move the shifter if the battery is dead or disconnected.

Can you move it if the locking pawl is tied/pulled back or cut off?

Is there a easier way as a work around so that the car can be towed, other than taking the center console apart or getting under the car to disconnect the trans cable?

Yes but I doubt the OP has done that.

If this is near the push button start switch, looks like the climate control temp sensor.
I think the clicking your hearing is the key fob module since you said the fob is not being recognized. I heard this clicking before when I forget to have the fob with me when trying to start the car.

But he can, if he has to. If worse comes to worst. At least there is a last-ditch option to get the car towed.

I hear clicking in 2 spots, behind the radio, and then the relays in the fuse box under the hood. The clicking under the radio happens first when I attempt to start the car then the clicking in the relays, take over after a couple tries?

You're car doesn't need neutral to be towed. Call a good tow company they'll recover your car from anywhere.

OP, several have mentioned this but you haven't stated whether you have checked it or not. There is a second fuse panel underneath the carpet in the passenger footwell. Open the passenger door, pull back the carpet where it goes toward the dashboard and then pull back the cover and you will see more fuses and relays along with a big blue connector. Carefully make sure the blue connector is seated or pull it and re-seat it without bending any pins. Also check the fuses in the compartment as well.
Please keep us posted. Good luck.

So, I put the trickle on the new battery, stepped away for 2 hours, and tested the doors when I came back. They opened on there own, no fobs. I grabbed the fobs but they are still not detecting however, this is a tad step forward because my doors were DEAD before, The interior door lights lit up as well.. Question, I have a duralast gold, brand new and charged, can the battery itself have anything to do with it? I changed it with my 1 month old battery last night just to be on the safe side but popped it on the trickle this morning and now the doors opened....

The clicking sounds you hear coming from the fuses/relays is a good thing. It means when you try to start the car they are still getting current. I had this same issue on my 05 back in August and checked everything you have and are about to. I had the same issue with "no fobs detected" even with brand new batteries. I did the complete half hour reprogram and got it to work one time, but then the problem was back the next time I tried to start the car that very same day. Based on everything that you are experiencing I'm willing to bet if you replace the RCDLR that all the issues will go away. It stands for Remote Control Door Lock Receiver and is the unit the key fobs send their signal to. Getting it done at a shop will cost anywhere from $250-$500 but you can't avoid this because they have to completely reset some systems in the car once the new receiver is installed.

Battery is always first suspect in these cars.
