Default Looking to buy a C6....Have questions

I'm looking to buy a C6 Corvette. Is there a year that had the most problems and what is the best year to look for?

There is a 2013 near me and the carfax says it was repaired for an electrical problem. Was this a common problem and an easy fix? It has also been at the dealer for sale since last march. Is this a big red flag or are Corvettes moving that slow?

Thanks.

Whats the price for the car? Options? Mileage? Condition? What was the electrical problem that was repaired?

Here is the car.

Carfax just says it was repaired for an electrical problem. Doesn't say what the problem was.

Don't be afraid of a 2013, they are great cars. Could have been
something as simple as a dead battery

Take the vin to a chevrolet dealership and have them pull the records. Should take 10 min tops.

The link won't work for me.
But as mentioned above lots of different items could trigger that information on car fax.
Take the VIN and go to a local GM dealer and pull a VIS report and ask for the complete report. They will do it free of charge.
This will give a better indication of what was repaired, is their a warranty block from GM on the car (means GM cancelled the factory warranty)
Electrical problems especially on the newer vettes are not common but if you get one with a problem it could be a demon.
Do your do diligence, ask a lot of questions and second guess until your comfortable.
Regarding overall reliability 2005 gets the worst wrap for many reasons.
Other than that I think all the other years of C6 are pretty reliable.

Well I can see why it hasn't sold yet - it has black wheels.
Just kidding, looks like a nice car.

The electrical repair could have been the grounding TSB fix?

I agree.
They raised the price last July and have been chasing the market down ever since. It seems like a decent deal...but it will probably need tires soon if a decent alignment wasn't done early on.
I have 45k on my '11 GS and it has been trouble free. I would not hesitate on this car if white, auto, black wheels trips your trigger...

Carfax just says it was repaired for an electrical problem. Doesn't say what the problem was.
This vehicle was priced towards the high end initially, and has dropped to more realistic and fair value as time has gone on.

Dealer should be able to provide information on the repair, as mentioned could have been very minor such as battery, etc. but a Vehicle Information report any GM dealer should give you a bit more information.

I wouldn't worry about how long it has been at dealer, mine was at a dealer for over 400 days before I purchased it, and depending upon model and price, especially with the C7's dropping in pricing, C6 sales have slowed down a bit.

Thanks for all the advice everyone! The general manager emailed me and said the car is a showroom car and had a dead battery. They checked the wiring while they were at it. I don't believe him. I'm going to pass on this car. I don't trust them since I asked other questions that didn't get answered.

Far from BS -that's like telling me the ZO6 does not get a bad wrap for dropping valves.
Out of all of the C6 generation the weak differential in the 2005 along with a host of 1 year only parts leads it to be the least reliable of all the years in the Base C6 family.
Does that make it a bad car - no - but does it make it worse than most C6's yes

Of the 3 months I've been on this forum, I have read about more issues with 2005 than any other year C6. Maybe because it's the oldest C6? Maybe it's the first year C6? Whatever the reason it still has the most problems.

The weak differential in the 2005 only comes into play if you have more than 700 horsepower, otherwise, its a useless argument. Under normal conditions, the "weak" differential is not an issue...period. I've been on this forum for over 10 years, have owned an 05, and have only heard of 1 person with problems. Get over it. The 2005 was a great car.
