Default LS3 Header Choice

All,

As I have only been the new owner of a C6 for a couple of weeks, I have been researching header choices extensively, to the point that I have information overload.

While I am sure this has been asked before and is subjective, I wanted to ask the advice of long time owners.

I have narrowed my choices down to either Kooks, ARH, or PFADT long tube 1 7/8" headers. I have listed to various video clips and all 3 sound very similar.

Taking cost out of the equation, what is everyone's opinion of the 3? I found a good write up in the C7 section ( https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ts-inside.html )and all 3 look good.

Thanks for the input for this new owner.

Fortunately all 3 choices above are quality products. That said, deciding by a video clip on youtube is poor form and not directed towards the performance aspect of the mod you are looking at. I had Kooks 1 7/8" on an LS2 application but run LG long tubes on my 08c6.

ARH out of the three you listed. Great fitment and performance.

^I agree entirely. Have driven some LS motors emptying into ARH headers and beyond fitment. They have a great sound irrespective of whatever pipe, cat, axel back thrown behind it.

Are you planning further build on this car....beyond typical bolt ons for power? If not, 1 7/8 headers a bit of overkill and would be better with 1 3/4? From what I've read anyways.

I would go with 1 3/4" diameter headers, no need for 1 7/8" unless your building a high HP engine, check flange thickness thicker is better (3/8").

I agree 100% on the video clip and would love to hear all 3 in person.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. Although i have no intentions of really building the car out side of a cam swap and tune, I never had intentions of building any of my previously owned F-Bodies and it became addictive So I thought going with 1 7/8" would be good just in case.

I think fitment is the most important because were I live I already have to creep out of the driveway due to the curbs in the sub-division. Definitely need the system to tuck away nicely.

Everyone says that, but I went with LG Super Pro 1 7/8 and have 425 rwtq/rwhp, even after 6 dyno pulls in 90+ degree Florida heat. I've got the graph posted out here in other threads, the torque is very high too, even in the low rpms.

Just about every day, when I roll out from work onto the 4 lane, I start spinning both rear wheels when I hit about 3500 rpms in 2nd gear

Bottom line, I have not regretted my decision, and I think it will help me even more if/when I go with a supercharger too.

I'd opt for the "none of the above" choice and go with LG long tubes.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the choices you named, including LG's. I think all of them are going to give you about the same hp and torque numbers, so I would buy the cheapest set I could find.

Guess its a good problem to have.

I'd be interested to know the results once you have everything installed.
