Thanks all for your feedback, it's very much appreciated, I'm probably leaning more towards the Michelins, mostly based on their reputation and quality product.

I put the Michelin PSS non run flat on mine 37k miles ago. They are so much better than the oem GY in every way I am going to get over 40k out of them. How long they last should also figure into the equation. Yes...they are more than the Contis but they will probably outlast them also. So price is a relevant thing.

On my original GY runflats I got 44,000 miles on the fronts before I had to replace those. The rears were still good but I just replaced all 4 at same time with Continental DWS.

Not trying to sharp shoot here, but I've always thought that the summer tires were a softer compound than the A/S tires. Based on several sets of tires that I had on my '00 Camaro, the wear difference was far in favor of the A/S tires I had on it over most of the 16 years I owned it. The summer tires always had more aggressive looking tread, but were subject to higher wear. Loooong time ago I had a Fiat 124 that came new with, real "grippy", Pirellis. I ate those tires up in the first 12K miles and replaced them with Michelin all season tires. Some loss of handling but a great improvement in tread wear.

I almost forgot, I've got Michelin RFs on my Vette.

I said - "A/S much softer compound for colder weather and more sipping for winter grip conditions."

They may be talking about softer compound for an A/S tire make, and when talking about compound for a summer tire make they will be different stories. Generally speaking summer tire are said to become stiffer or harder in cold weather where the A/S compounds are said to be less so. Plus then you are talking about tread design as well as a lot of other factors.

Seems A/S compounds vs Summer compounds operate sometimes differently under different conditions. As I stated I bought the A/S for their good ratings on what was most important to me and the good wear rating they had.

Here's what one good tire maker says, and looks like wear is not just compound based or softer vs harder. http://www.bridgestonetire.com/tread...l-season-tires

Had the Continentals on my Mustang...good tire for the money. Only thing was that they seemed prone to flat-spotting after even leaving car parked for a few days. Only minorly...but still was kind of weird.

Got the Pilot Super Sports for my Vette...best tire I've had on a car.

Default Tire Rack comparison on A/S

For overall best performance in moderate temps the Summer tire probably provides best performance but maybe a little less wear life.

I ran the DW tires on my 95 , and was very pleased with all aspects. When I purchased my 2008 Z51 last April, I replaced the horrible GY Supercar runflats with the new DWS06 tires. About $1,000 delivered from Tire Rack. I have only run them about 4k, but very pleased. No track time, just casual road. No experience with Michelins on Corvettes, but have great experience with the brand on many cars. Coin toss.

I have the Continentals on my 08 the DW on the front DWS on the rear. As mentioned if the car is parked for several days they seem to flt spot and takes some driving to smooth out. I mostly notice that in cold weather, and in cold weather they seem very stiff till warm but otherwise I am happy with them they are non run flats

Really interesting thread - one of the better ones, IMHO, simply because people are writing pretty rationally. I'm too cheap to replace the stock GY RF until they wear out - and I'm just over 14K on the car at this point (2008). We have run the DW, and now the DWS on my wife's Mazda3 and love them. We do run the pressures higher, and with that they perform well and wear evenly and long. And she drives all year round, rain, snow, ice. Great tire for her car. I do like to get on a track when I can, so am leaning the Michelin way myself, but it's a challenging call, as I like to drive as much as I can, but in dry conditions. The challenge here is that our winters can get mighty cold (-20s) this year as I recall and that makes for a really cold surface - dry or not. Not much fun on the summer only tire. It will be a while before I have to make the decision. Will try to do so taping into the many wise thoughts shared here. Thanks!

Both the DW and the PSS are being replaced.

The DW is being replaced by the ExtremeContact Sport, which by all reports from those involved in early testing and who have significant high performance driving experience, are the equal to the PSS in the dry, potentially a bit better in the wet, while offering lower noise levels a better ride.

But the PSS is also being replaced, by the Pilot Sport 4S. That's only coming out in 19" and 20" sizes for now, with one 18" size, a 245/40-18, so it's perfect as a replacement for the base C6 and C6 Z51. The PS4S will probably fully replace the PSS within a year or so.

This is interesting news to me. I'll have to try to keep this in mind, in a year or two when I expect to need to replace my tires. We have had a great experience with the DW and DWS tires and since I only track once a year or so, and drive all year around, the new ones might be a good fit for me. That said, I'm used to driving on summer tires all year around and the newer PS 4S would handle those hot summer drives and track days better.

I did a track day in a set of A/S tires and I was amazed at how hot and near melty they got, though I was no where near the speeds they were rated to handle. The stock GY RF barely noticed the track day I had them on, but it was also a bit rainy, so we never had a good warm, dry run.

I went with the Continental Extreme Contact DW tires about 5 months ago that my son had recommended instead of the Michelin's that I had planned to buy. I have normally gone with the Michelin run flats but they ran about twice what I paid for the Conti's and pretty much feel about the same but smoother ride because they are not run flat tires.

Could not be more pleased, very quiet and great traction.

Bought them at Discount Tire here in Tucson for a total price out the door of $786.61

Have a new set of Vertini RF 1.1's (19/20) scheduled to be delivered tomorrow and plan to put Michelin PS4S (thinking 265/30R19 & 305/25R20) on them.

Will let you guys know my impressions when I get them installed and the Colorado weather cooperates

So I went with 265/35ZR19's and 305/30ZR20's and am pleased so far. Haven't had a chance to break them in yet but everything I read about them says they are an improvement over the Super Sports which were outstanding tires to start with so I'm hopeful they will live up to the reports.

I went with Pilot Super Sports on my GS. I had pretty good luck with Continentals on my wife BMW though.

I have the Michelin Super Sport Non Run Flat tires now on my 08 Z51 and they have 41,300 miles on them so far, Best Tire I've ever owned. I'm awaiting DiscountTire to give me a price on the PS4S. They quoted me $1,200 out the door for the Conti Ex. Contact Sport but am waiting for the Michelins.

Got mine at Discount Tire for $320 each for 265/35ZR19 and $411 each for 305/30ZR20 which was comparable to Tire Rack for those sizes and I got a $70 rebate/gift card.
