Yep a stock LS2 Corvette is pretty darn close in speed to a stock Mustang with a Coyote engine. Both can get you into trouble. Cops will be more likely watching for you over a Mustang as there are more numerous V6 and turbo four Stangs on the road. Hope you did this on a deserted road somewhere. Mustangs are always wanting to race me in the city. I won't bite on that one.

Several months ago I raced a brand new 2016 5.0 GT from a dig off of a stoplight and the Mustang never had a prayer. I knew it was a brand new car because he still had the dealer advertising plates on the car from a local Ford dealer. Really pretty all black coupe with blacked out 5.0 and GT emblems. My car is a stock LS3, but I clobbered him. When he passed me after racing he wouldn't even look over.
What's the deal with racing on the freeway? Going for top end or what? Someone's going to get killed doing that. Drag racing is a contest of acceleration and that has always meant from a dead stop to me. If you beat the opponent to a reasonable speed, you shut down because you've proved your point. Only idiots are roaring through slower traffic at three digit speeds. And, yes, drag racing should be confined to the track, but here in CA the car haters, insurance companies and real estate developers have disappeared most of the drag strips. Now they have problems with drag races being held in industrial parks in the middle of the night in many cities.

Then your buddy mods his stang and you're back to where you started from. Where does it end?

There's always someone faster. Dodge is coming out with an 800+ hp Demon that comes with drag radials from the factory and runs 9s.

Always something faster around the next corner.
Ask yourself just how important it is to keep up with the next fast car.
The corvettes has more than enough ample power for navigating the hi ways with ease.
Always gonna be a faster car, then what do you do?
A tune and long tubes will give nice responsiveness change without any maintenance issues. Depending on your local smog laws. Federally illegal though.
I saw 47 rwhp and 40+ rwtq. LS3.
Usually messing with change can bring some headaches.

NO it doesn't 2014 mustang GT depending on how it was delivered 3500 to 3750 LBS. 300 to 420 HP at 420 and lets say 3500 lbs take 30 HP right off the bat, 10 hp X 100 lbs car weight, now the Corvette IS NOT a DRAG car, IT IS a world class road car, our cars have a 42 inch roof line, the GT 40 ford was given that name because it was 40 inches at the roof line, our cars base model has a listed top speed of 186 mph the mustang is like 146 mph, you ever pull up beside one? their like 50 inches plus at the roof line. sure the mustang can keep up for awhile, but what happens when you get to the first turn? if he tries to turn with the corvette, he wrecks, it doesn't seem like anybody knows anything about physics or geometry. it's like the idiot in an interview about lifted trucks makes the statement that a "lifted truck" is more stable. that's not possible when you raise the center of gravity! Did you ever wonder why the Camaro's and mustangs, BMW M3's race in the same class and the Corvettes are in the same class as the high end cars like Ferrari? BECAUSE THEY CAN"T COMPETE WITH THEM! BTW the statement that the guy made was that the LS3 is just simply better then the LS2 that's not true. TRACK DAY at Button Willow 2008, Z06 owner bragging about how his car was soooo much better then anything out there, My instructor{a WOMAN} asks to use my base model and by the time she gets done with the guy she has 30 seconds on him in one short session.
