Default eBay LS7 lifters

Searching for lifters, I noticed many people are claiming to sell Genuine GM ls7 lifters but sold in plain generic packaging. The price is about 1/3 less, but very suspicious. Anyone have experience or know what the deal is? I think even some well known part places are selling them like this too.

I've used OEM LS7 lifters in my current H/C LS2 build, if they are truly indeed OEM GM lifters then your good. Are there better options out there on lifters, the short answer is yes. It all depends on your on your plans/budget for your build some aftermarket lifter crest over $500 a set and up over $1000 for the badass ones. Goodluck on your choice

I have seen such a variety of options like you stated, I'm just searching for a head, cam, intake, header engine. Nothing extreme

Well it is up to you to decide on your parts combo, I choose to keep it simple on my H/C set up. I'm a performance minded budget guy, I purchased Texas Speed offshore headers, As-cast Trick Flow heads worked over by Tony Mamo and purchasing item used but in good condition off this forum. People may chip away at what others use or which is better but if you research and purchase wisely your combo will come out how you want it to. What platform are you dealing with LS2/3/9/7?

Why do you need to buy a new set of lifters in the first place?

Since the LS series engines use a roller style lifter, it certainly is not needed to change lifters when you change camshafts, and your stock lifters will not wear out in less than 150,000 miles or more.

So ... why the need for new hydraulic lifters?

Is it not something to do while the heads are off? That's the only reason

It's a waste of money ... Use the money you saved by not buying lifters for something else that you can actually benefit from.

If you still are intent on replacing your perfectly good hydraulic lifters, better make damned sure your not replacing your good quality OEM lifters for some no-name junk that was made in China.

Anyway, just a suggestion ... it's your car, do what you want.

No.

While they are cheap if you have made it this far and there in good shape there is no reason to possibly add a failing point.

ALSO there are a few different kinds of lifters with the same part number, but they are not created equal.

I was going to do ebay lifters when I did a cam change and used Kohles at AHP. Glad I did. Don't short cut
