Default Out on a limb

Sorry I don't have more detail on my problem. Car has been running perfect until this afternoon. All of a sudden check engine light starts flashing and car starts to stall out. It doesn't shut down but acts like its running on 4 cylinders .
Did make it to the dealer. But I was hoping for a long shot maybe someone has seen this before. I didn't won't to go back to the dealer without a clue.

Check your spark plug wires at both ends (most likely came off the coil end though)....I had this exact issue a couple weeks ago.

A code scanner will give you (and us) a clue.

10 minutes of dealer labor time is more than a cheap, basic scan tool.

Yes to both above, but seems like I've read of loose plug wire before causing those conditions.

Similar issue, but not as bad. Just shaking at idle and not accelerating smoothly. Spark plug wire slid down from coil on passenger side. Cheap and east to look at and fix if that's it.

And if not a spark plug issue, check your battery.

yeah you need to scan it to figure out whats wrong it could be an array of different things, won't know till you scan it.

pay 75 dollars to have it scanned, and have the issue fixed, and for god sake, find a private mechanic, people need to stop going to the dealer. A good private mechanic is 20x better than a dealer

Mine acted this way after washing the engine bay. Water got into the MAF connector. That was the last time I washed with water.

Oh, no doubt. But, then, 42.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
Statistics means never having to say you're certain.

I think he was being conservative, a good mechanic is 100 times better then a dealer... If you can find a good Corvette mechanic treat him right ( take him beer on his birthday) because he's a rare thing to find........WW

You didn't by change fill up the gas tank very recently did you?

See that around here sometimes with either water in the gas, or bad gas from people who try to save a few cents and get it on the Indian Reservations.

Thanks for all the good advice. It's on me it ended up at the dealership. They called this morning and said code was #1 cylinder misfire. Told me it needed full set of cables that it was time to change them plus set of plugs and a coil Total $995. I said no way I would pay for 1 cable 1 plug and the coil. Still set me back $445. Please no flaming I feel bad enough. I've got to find a mechanic I know this.

The above statement is just not true, I have a Chevrolet/Corvette dealer near me that has top notch Corvette mechanics, I have never been "gouged" by this dealership in any way

I bought a scan tool for $50.00 or so. It's a very helpful tool, one of those things that pays for itself in no time.
