gas mileage

No lead foot. Sears is replacing my tires to michelin. Going to have them check under the hood. It's amazing what you can do with a sears card! lol

There is definitely something wrong. I've owned mine since new (2006) and around here all you can get is 91 octane, it has gotten 93 on occasion when on road trips. My driving is about 75% interstate/25% city and I drive with a heavy foot (80mph plus on the interstate). My average MPG has constantly been little over 26 mpg.

Since having my 05 corvette. I have noticed that I am only getting around 8.9 miles to the gallon. This is city driving. I have been running 91 octane with a mixture of 100 octane. 5 gallons of 100 and the rest 91 . 91 octane $3.29 a gallon the 100 octane $9.99 per gallon. Should my car be getting better gas mileage? If so what could be wrong. Tuneup?

It sounds like you've made a smart decision for the engine problem. Not sure about the Sears tire deal though.

I wouldn't let sears touch any part of my car except tires. Sears is only good for tools and tires. Maybe work boots. As far as West Coast Corvette, they are very trustworthy. Been there a few times and have met there service and sales department. Both are top notch.

On the other hand, when I drive in the "city", but mostly use freeways or roads with no lights, I can get 20, and that how others are doing it in the city. Sunnyvale is a good example of a town with many expressways and good traffic flow, during off-hours. Otherwise, it is stop and go, right? I suppose if you are retired and travelling when the roads are not crowded, you could do pretty well. Otherwise, no way.

EV...I live in LV, too, and I would sure like to know what you consider "city" driving. If you are driving off-hours on 93/95 and 15, I understand. But if you are driving city streets, I don't see how you could possibly get 20 "in city".

When you have your tires changed or a front end alignment they automatically check under the hood for any oil, water or transmission leaks. This is what they do automatically. If they find something then great, but I will have West Coast Corvette do the work for the repair.
I am having the mechanic at west coast do a complete check of the vehicle. I had to wait a couple of pay checks to afford it.
I do think there must be something wrong for the car to be getting only 8 to 9 miles to the gallon. I do not hot rod it or abuse it in anyway. I am a very responsible driver. I am 52 years old and treat my stuff very well. Most of the time my wife is in the car with me, as it is city driving. I will find out next week for sure. I want to say thank you for all the answers and help.

Have you checked the mileage the old fashioned way, to verify that you actually are getting only 8-9 MPG? Seems to me if it really was that bad you would have other symptoms, warnings, or something.

This is true. I have not done this yet, but I will. The computer says 8.9 miles to gallon. You are right though If something were wrong it does seem that a check engine light would be on. Next phillip I am going to do just that.

I know the original owner had a aftermarket mag flow exhaust installed. The car is so low to the ground that I have to wait until it's up in the air to see what all was done. West coast will know. I don't think there's anything left I can do, except wait until they look at it. I will let you guys know what they say.
