Safety Car
Several years ago, my wife got hit and our truck was totaled. Dudes jumped out of the car and ran away. They reported the car stolen, so I had to pay for it.

That's why I always keep a healthy under-/un-insured motorist rider on my policy. Pays off. Helped my wife's niece buy a new Spark last summer. Insured the car and her on my policy to keep her costs down. Day after she bought it she was rear ended by a H&R driver. ******* even helped her move her car out of traffic, then bolted.
My F350 got hit in a parking lot and mashed the bumper into the bed. Still have to file on that one.
People can be real douche-bags.

it looks right now that it will be on us to repair. I will.not keep a car without full.coverage just for these reasons.
adjuster supposed to be out Monday. hopefully I can meet them there and see what they think and if close enough I'm going to argue diminished value see if we can get it there.

Bad situation there, hopefully the insurance companies will make it right!

The bad news in that this happened a month after I bought my Vette. The good news is that I was driving my Murano.

BTW, I would ALWAYS work with my own insurance company in a case like this because they have a greater motivation to fix the car right. The other guy's insurance company doesn't care if your frame is bent because, once you sign off, it isn't their problem any more. A faulty repair might cause my insurance company to have to pay a second time for a problem that causes another "accident" so they are motivated to fix it right the first time.

Glad she is OK. The car is just a car and can be fixed.
Doesn't matter. The insurance company will tell you that the truck hit the car, not the H&R driver. It is the truck's insurance that has to pay and then the truck insurance company will have to sue the H&R driver for both. Now if the truck doesn't have insurance...

I'd guess it'll show up as a track car or rebuilt with a salvage title. Lots of front end damaged cars out there with good rears.
This sounds like your ins co has taken the opportunity to get paid the full amount by the truck driver's inc co, so they will bail out of any future responsibility. They also get to determine the value of your car and increase your premium due to the most likely higher value of your replacement vehicle.
