Competitive Handling Mode
I noticed on my DIC today that one push on the traction control override button on the console says "Traction Control Off" but a second push gets you to "Competitive Handling Mode". Wazzit? I tried driving around in competitive handling mode, expecting that the car might be a little firmer in turns or wind out to a higher rpm before shifting, but nothing like that seemed to happen. I know, I know, read the manual. Well, I figure some of you already have so why not ask the assembled experts. What does competitive handling mode do? (Hey, I got through my undergraduate degree this way.)

Active handling off turns off both traction control and active handling.
Competitive Driving mode turns off traction control allowing wheel spin and leaves active handling able to help should you start to lose control. It's all in the owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can download one on line for free. Also if you Google Corvette competitive driving mode, you'll get lots of stories and advice and a better explanation of what happens in the real world.

the owner's manual is not the end-all, be-all. Much of the info in there is difficult to sort out. Just look at some of the responses to the answer "Bill" gave to the above question. Much, much better than the OM.

More notably, starting in 2011 the active handling system will offer a dual steering mode. When the system is placed in competitive driving mode, the steering stiffens to provide a more precise feel of the road. This calibration is intended to help the driver on serpentine pavement or when running at a track event.

with everything turned on, my car wouldnt let me slide a simple U-turn. With competitive, it lets me do a nice 180. hvae no tried it with both turned offf yet.

Well, I have looked under "R" for rude, "J" for Jerk, and even "C" for Civility. Never saw any mention. However, I did not check the original brochure, and it might be in there.
As a side note...Yesterday, I bought some excellent used parts from a local guy. He has a ZR1 and a Z06 parked in his garage. Has collected/driven Corvettes for 35 years. Very nice, helpful person. I asked if he ever visits the forum. His response was, "Not anymore...you can't ask a question on there without some %$$hole telling you to read the manual" Exact quote, true story.
Makes you wonder how much valuable input is not being realized on this site...

Was not trying to be a rude jerk. If you took it that way, I am sorry. Learning about your Corvette should start with reading the owners manual. Maybe 2 or 3 times (certain parts) to understand the workings of the car, or in some cases, the "how to's" of the car. Its a lot easier to read it than it is for someone on the internet to type how it works. I could tell you, but it would take 20 minutes for me to type it, and too much space, therefore, you wouldn't take the time to read it.
