Default C6 Air Bag Light

I have a 2012 with the air bag light coming on and once in a while turns off. But most of the time stays on.

Any suggestions where to start?

It is a common issue. There are numerous threads on here about it and how to fix it. Look in the top under the stick threads and look for the common fixes or do a search. Also try YouTube for it. I find Youtube or Google will find these thinks faster then the search on the site.

Most likely caused by the yellow connector under the seat. There is a safety recall on that.
It can also be cause by the seat belt pretensioner as well.
Try tie wrapping the connector tight under the seat and see if that makes the light go away.

Good Luck

I'm tall and put my seat all the way back, this causes the airbag light to turn on. Apparently the harness gets pulled on. Silly oversight on behalf of GM. Gee, nobody tall ever buys a sports car.

This a known problem and GM covers the repair under special coverage 15643 good for 10 years from date of car first put into service or 120000 miles whatever comes first.

If you move the seat fore and aft often, it is much more likely to be the connector under the seat.

Airbag system connectors are bright yellow everywhere on the car. Others will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that if the airbag light is on, the airbags will not deploy in a crash so best to get that light off soon.

Local dealer fixed mine with a "heat connection" under the seat. I used to have my seat move back & forth, but not any more.

And that's what I was told about the airbag light being on - airbag won't deploy.

There is a GM recall for this issue and the GM TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) number is 15643A. Call your Chevy dealer and have your VIN#. They will check and make sure you are covered for the recall.

The GM fix is they remove the yellow connector completely and solder the wires together thereby eliminating the cause of the intermittency.

Which light are you talking about...the one on the dash or the one on the mirror?

Replace the yellow connector under the seat.
