Default Brake Pads

I am getting close to having to replace my brake pads on all 4. Any recommendations for street driver. Looking for low dust and quiet operation.

2021 C6 of the Year Finalist - Modified

Welcome ... This is your very first post here on the Corvette Forum.

How about an introduction. What type of C6 do you have and what's the year model? Maybe a photo or two of the car ... we like pictures

Have you owned it a long time? How many miles does it have?

For your question, I would buy a set of Autozone Duralast Ceramic pads ... They are quiet, work well, are pretty much dust free and the price is cheaper than the majority of other pads on the market.

I have a 2011 GS and installed Hawk Ceramic padlets, but if I have to do it all over again, I would have purchased the Autozone pads and saved a bunch of cash.

Again, how about some info about your C6.

I have a 2012 GS with S/C and I used Autozone Dura Last Gold Cerramic brake pads on all 4. Low dust and low price $113.00 for all 4 corners.

I also auto-X, and they hold up very well. Very

Welcome to the forum

If you want a quality aftermarket pad I recommend the Carbotech 1521 pad. A low dust pad that is rotor friendly and performs like OEM and last longer. 100% non-corrosive dust will not harm your paint or wheels. This pad also contains NRS technology. Carbotech uses NRS technology on all C4, C5, C6 & C7 front and rear brake pads.

Here is a link to explain further what NRS technology is exactly: http://www.nrsbrakes.com

If interested let me know I will be happy to help you.

Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521™ The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

Look at PowerStop pads. Do a search here and you'll find literally hundreds of positive reviews, and the price is about 1/3 of those mentioned above.

It was over TEN years ago that Carbotech started building brake pads out of Ceramic, Kevlar, and Carbon for street, autocross and racing applications. Carbotech is the only brake pad manufacturer in the world with a complete line of Ceramic compounds for street, autocross, and track use. Carbotech-Ceramic compounds are known for their unsurpassed release & modulation, while maintaining very consistent torque control characteristics. Carbotech brake pads are extremely rotor friendly and contain 100% non-corrosive brake dust, that’s something that has been unmatched by any other brake pad in the industry 100% made in the USA in Concord NC.

I would not ever run ceramic pads on a performance car. On a luxury sedan, maybe. But not on anything I want to stop hard repeatedly.

Just want to point out that the 2012 - 2013 base C6 came OE with Akebono Performance ceramic brake pad. The first time GM put a ceramic pad on the Corvette.
They are GM's largest supplier of friction. Owners of GM trucks have gone over 100,000 miles on Akebono ceramic pads. 100% made is the USA. The inventors of ceramic friction.

I put Akebono's on my base '05, have about 15K miles on them and zero issues, very quiet, great stopping power (I don't track but occasionally get the "need for speed") and probably 90% less dust then the OEM...somewhere in the $120 range for all 4 IIRC!
