Default C6 with XLR body

Someone may have posted something like this alreay, but i'm too lazy to see if they actually did, so here goes:
Everyone has seen the XLR already. Ok, now it may just be me, but since the XLR and the C6 are sharing a lot of parts, wouldn't it make sense for GM to put a modified XLR body and some XLR rims on the C6 to run it around with?

I would think that is exactly what they are doing. :smash:

well if you see an XLR running around, try to listen to it. Northstars sound significantly different from the pushrod V8s in vettes. That would be one way to tell the difference. However, someone pointed out in another thread that the C6 should be well past the "mule" stage (if there even was such a stage in C6 development) and into the alpha or beta cars. I don't think an alpha or beta can wear another car's skin, as the body construction is one of the many things they are testing at that stage. So if there are C6's running around, they are probably just covered with tons and tons and tons of camo.

There's been enough sightings of real C6s since last fall. There might be some XLR bodied C6s testing the mechanicals, but there are definitely some skinned C6s built. If they're out in public, you know they will be camo'ed!

There were some C4's and Camaros retrofitted with the C5 interior and guts. "Cormaro" i think they were referred to. There is one or two at the corvette museum.

An XLR body on a C6 would be an XLR with a Corvette interior. The C6 and XLR share the same platform. The C6 will have different engine, body and interior.

:banghead: Apparently, you're the only person who didn't understand what I said. I know they're sharing the same platform and will have different engines, interiors and other stuff. I was just saying that since everyone has seen the XLR already, they could use an XLR body on a C6 to do street and track testing with. poopie, when they're done with it, they coulf put it into the corvette museum and call it a C6LR or C-SIXLR (yes, i know this sounds stupid, but that's the type of person i am :D )

Sorry 69Stingray but I'm with VIZKIZ on this one. :p:

It would be the best 'stealth' yet to use the XLR and tweak stuff later on. That way you wouldn't hafta use all those bras & distorted 'black' panels & stuff trying to "hide" it's true form underneath.

I bet one of 'em drove right past ya - 69Stingray ! :jester

Apparently. :bb

The mules used C5 vehicles for testing. The next round will have C6 skin and GM will use the same coverings they always do, I am sure. To much work to use 215 body (I would thing). Plus engine packaging is different, not sure if even feasible.
