Default Brake rotor size?

I tried to do something to get the possible front rotor size, but it looks like that might of totaly not worked, maybe one of you will have better luck.

Even if the front rim was a big 19" or 20" I expected the rotor to be larger. Aren't the OEM C5 calipers already 13"?

Rim Diameter = ~204 pixels
Rotor Diameter = ~137 pixels

Rotor is 67.15% of rim

17" Rim = 11.4"
18" Rim = 12"
19" Rim = 12.75"
20" Rim = 13.43"

**EDIT**

I thought maybe the angle was throwing me off so I did another picture.

Rim Diameter = ~202pixels
Rotor Diamter = ~133pixels

Same really.

***UPDATE***

I did the rear wheel with the suggested method below.

The lug pattern I found for a C5 is 5x120mm. The green circle you see in this pic is 120mm in diameter.

~50 Pixels = Lug Pattern = 4.72"
~125 Pixels = Rear Rotor = 250% = 300mm diameter = 11.8"
~210 Pixels = Rear Rim = 420% = 504mm diameter = 19.8"

If I do it the way I did the first two pictures I get....

Rotor = 60% of Rim

19" Rim = 11.4" Rotor
20" Rim = 12" Rotor
21" Rim = 12.68" Rotor

Do you think that the fact that the rim had no lip is throwing you off? How do they measure wheel size? Is it the inner diameter? If so your pixel count would be smaller, I think.

I dunno, but if someone does I hope they tell us and recalculate. :)

C5 rotors are 12.8 in front and 12.0 at the rear......I find the rear rotors of the C6 rather small what do you think?

That burgandy colored "roller" might have C5 brakes etc. :yesnod:

Yeah it looks in size similar to the C5 maybe the even look smaller because of the larger C6 wheels......

Did the C5 have cross drilled rotors?

The C5 rotor is 12.75". So if you calculate it to 12.75" I would think you are right, has been no firm information that this will change.

Yeah I'm not ruling that out yet.

Scorp,

What if you used the distance between the lugs as the point of reference, and then measured the rotors with that distance. I don't have my car with me today, but if someone would measure between the center of the lugs that might be a little more accurate for measuring the rotor. Worth a try.

Thats a possibility. Looking at the running gear on that car one could probably assume the lugnut spacing hasn't changed.

Sounds like Scorp just figured out the rim size. Look exactly like C5 brakes to me, except with cross drilled rotors. Guess we're getting 19" rims up front. Rear rim looks a little larger, maybe just be the angle, I can't tell. 20" rims out back sure would be cool. Can anybody calculate the rear wheel size?

If someone remembers what the lug spacing off the top of their heads I'll do it.

18" front and 19" rear wheel size on the C6. My guess is the rotor is the same size as the C5, but will be bigger on the Z06 version.

See my first post for an update.

I am leaning towards 19" front & 20" rear rims. The rotors look to be 12.8" front and 12" rear which is identical to the C5.

Here's some help, Scorp. The C6's wheelbase is known to be 105.7"

I measured pixels from the center of one wheel to the center of the other.

Now I know that one inch is approximately 11 pixels.

Using that, I measured the diameter of the wheels and came up with 19" front and 20" rear.

Screwing around with the image some more, I come up with a 12" rotor in the rear and a 12.8" rotor in front.

Also, using the wheelbase to calculate pixel-to-inch conversion, I measured the overall length.

The C5 is 14' 11.7"
The C6, from what I can gather, is 13' 4.5"

So either my measurement is off, or the C6 lost a lot of overall length, or both.

Damn.... what would be a huge overall length chop! Looks like we're making some progress. :)

Length is only supposed to be about 5 inches shorter than C5. Wheels will be 18 front and 19 back . 245/18 and 285/19 so I've read.
