Got to start a strangers C6 today
Coming home from VA, stopped at a rest area in MD. Woman behind me bumped into me, saw my NJSP jacket and commented that she was leaving Jersey in her new vette. I told her I was going back to Jersey in my "old" vette. So she asks if she can join me for lunch, I say sure. She made a comment about her age(I think she was around 70). She bought her first vette in 1978 and hasn't been without one since. She has a '98 sitting in the garage in NJ and her '02 was totalled from the hurricanes in FLA. So she bought the C6 to replace the '02.
So she asks me how to set the clock, me not ever looking to see how the C6 was set up, I tell her I will give it a shot. She makes me climb in and start it up, I set the clock(real simple), then we start BSing about racing and she says when she returns next year she will make an attempt to join us in our Corvette Challeng edrag racing series. How cool is that? She is my hero, she wasn't afraid to put her Popeye's chicken on the back along with her handbag while she lit up a smoke.
It was Mag Red with the oak interior, also the first automatic I have seen(well 2nd forgot about the one in BG).
Her husband is expecting her to bring the Cadillac, she said screw that, I'm driving the vette! She also is breaking it in properly, she's had it over 100 MPH and it only has 150 miles on it!
I wonder if she'll adopt me?
