Default Acceleration problem

My 06 Z06 has a weird accelerating studder. The car drives fine normally but when I step on it the car seems to completely cut off power then start to studder. The car is cammed, headers, x-pipe, corsa exhaust, msd wires. It was boosted but I took the nitrous system off. Also the car does not fire right up. I have to pump some gas to fire up the engine but I figure that was just from the cams. Any suggestions on why it does this?

That's not an option. It was done in Houston and I am now residing in El Paso. I'm having the valve cover gaskets replaced ready for pickup tomorrow. But I doubt that'll fix the problem. Also I DO NOT have the engine light on.

Check all valve springs while you do that...maybe a broken one.

Tuning issue. You can't pump gas, you can only pump air through the TB. You need a good tuner to fix your problem. Is it setting any codes?

If you can't bring it to a tuner, you may have to go back and forth doing some data logging with a mail order tuner. Not a hard problem to fix. Long as you know the cam specs and what parts you have. The check engine light may be off bus still have stored codes.

I'll have them run a computer diagnostic on it to see but there are no lights. I got the hot engine air conditioning off light yesterday and the thermostat stop working but it went away.

can you post the tune file? Also make sure your maf is clean and you o2 are not burnt up from the headers due to negligent install also spark plug wires are ok and not burnt through and connection are good

Sounds like the last "tuner" might have forgot to actually tune the car..... You could be running too lean under acceleration, which is not a good thing. I would not do that anymore till you get the thing looked at by a legitimate tuner. You have dozen's of legit tuners close to where you reside, or I think you do anyway.. You could always do a call out asked for a tuner in El Paso. Someone is sure to have a recommendation for you on this board.

Also check your spark plugs as that was the problem with mine. Mine was doing the same thing, ran fine until I stepped on it then it would stumble. However, I didn't have the hard starting problem you do.

No, mine wasn't spark plug wires, it was the spark plugs themselves. Of course I did have 90k miles on them so it was time to replace them (although maintenance suggests replacing at 100k).

I had a similar problem that took me a while to find, try my thread I started a few weeks ago on it and see if this can help or at least give you something to check and narrow down your troubleshooting.
