Default Looking for 115mm Akrapovic Exhaust tips

We have a set of takeoff titanium Akrapovic tips (125mm) that we will trade for a set of the carbon fiber 115mm units or the 115mm titanium units.

Halltech is going to make a carbon fiber tip in 115mm and need one of the 115mm units to finish our mold.

Our tips will be CKN (carbon fiber, Kevlar, Nomex III and be the heat resistant carbon fiber.

Anyone?

Jim

We had 4" tips in testing, but they looked odd with too much gap between the tips, which is why we need the AKRA 115mm set or at least one to borrow.

That would be great. Anyone that can help will get a set at our COST. They are not cheap to make, but they are not going to be outrageously expensive. Under $1000, maybe $800 to $850 per set.

These are our first set, made in 4" which do not look correct due to the spacing. They work great, and save over 5lbs. vs. the AKRAs.

The 115mm (4.53") tips will look much better.

Jim,

I assume these will be secured in a different manner than the prototype Halltech carbon fiber tip left at Autobahn a couple of years ago.

My twisted effort at humor. Everyone here, especially me, is aware everything coming from your shop is top notch.

Those look like the 115s. Tape measure across the width should be around 4.5 to 4.6". The 125s are 5"

The reason those split at the seams was due to the titanium exhaust expansion. The carbon tip was not large enough to accommodate the expansion of the titanium, under all out race conditions. We will have aluminum sleeves or Nomex integrated into the tip attachment, to isolate the exhaust heat.

If this works as planned, our tips are .75lbs for the 4 vs. 6lbs for the titanium tips. What is ironic, is that the mid-pipe in titanium is only 9lbs!

We'll look at this again once we get ahold of the 115 tips, if ever.

We already have our set of carbon fiber tips, so this exercise would be 100% for the Akra folks if there was actually a market for them.

Not much response here.

Jim

We're going to pass right now. The ducts for the fender and NACA are $600 my cost, and the molds are at home, not at our shop.

We'll figure something out.
