11.5 at 124 in the 1/4 mile and 17.1 seconds 0-150mph----
. for the new c7z06 don't make me want to switch up my 2009 z06.
in dec 2008 Car and driver recorded 11.5 at 125 in the quarter and the same 17 seconds 0-150mph on a 2009 z06.
top speed drag limited at 186.
slower and ugly rear end = no sale.
Lets see what the other car rags say.

Wow.....speechless. The acceleration times almost look as if they are from a c6z06. But that topspeed is pathetic....
Hoping this is a glaring typo from the magazine, otherwise, HUGE disappointment for GM!!!

yes, I agree - lots of disappointed people I'm sure if they can admit it - those with deposits probably won't though...........but then again, some seem very pleased. I'm like you Mr. Gizmo, not worth the upgrade in cost

Its all a marketing ploy. - GM needs to get folks to spend money on a c7z06 and then take it up a notch with a c7zr1 to get them to turn loose of money again.

It will be interesting to see what kind of time the C7 Z06 posts at the 'Ring. Much more interested it that than ¼ mile and top speed times. However, 0-150 seems like it should be better.

Corrode and Crack's numbers definitely doesn't support GM's 650/650 specs. Maybe they should have taken the tennis ball out from underneath the gas pedal.
If it would have been a BMW or Porsche...

Motortrend got better numbers but still not amazing. Trap speeds in 1/4 were about 2mph more in their test but ET was about the same. They tested the same car I think. IT was yellow as well a manual. I would think they are not sending out multiple cars to different rags. They must use the same test car for as many tests as possible. Motortrend also did most of their tests in Fontana at California speedway which sits at 1100ft and it was a lot warmer so traction was better I am sure. I have never liked Road&Crap though. They are always off the mark.
I know Randy Pobst drove a white A8 version at Road Atlanta to a 1:30 lap which his pretty good I guess there.
The car so far is not blowing anyone socks off that is not being paid by GM as a sponsor of their mags and/or youtube channel. They have to be cautious about what they say about a big sponsor. This is not right I agree, and the reviewers should be totally honest.
Chris Harris got into big trouble with Ferrari years ago and they actually banned him from testing any of their cars for a long time until he kissed and made up with them. He did this by buying a 599 I think and singing its praises.
I will be curious to know what Chris thinks of the car. He knows his stuff and is a very good driver.
The thing to remember is those Cup 2 tires are what is giving these guys the confidence in the car to begin with and drive it hard. If it had regular Super Sports on it they would be saying very different things about it.

That being said I'm still not very pleased. I'd be happy with a mid 10... oh well... let's see what happens in the spring

It says that it was 46 degrees and the sun was not out so ground was cold and traction was an issue. Doesnt look like its a prepped quarter mile track they ran this at.

Those are GMs advertised times from a closed set so not really the same as what an outside party can do. Will need to see more examples to support a true capability however MT did 11.3 with a manual so one would expect 11.00 for the A8 is pretty achievable on a regular basis. As more hit the track we should also the first extreme outliers. There are many people on this board who have beat GMs spec number in the C6z by half a second. Does that mean 10.5ish for the C7z? It wouldn't surprise me but that trap speed has me a little confused. I was expecting over 130mph and nobody has been close so far. I guess we might have to wait for some owners in the spring

Magazine times are only useful to magazine racers. Who cares? Let people get their hands on them and then see what happens. Just like bone stock a8 2015s are running 11.3s, 2014s 11.5s off the showroom floor, yet magazines don't touch those times.
Then again I haven't seen a c7 run quicker than a 13.0 here in Arizona, so who cares if a magazine says it is a high 11 car. Just like the 4 z06s at the track last week all running 13s, yet people say they are 10 second cars. The bench racing these days is beyond silly.

Unbolt the aggressive aero bits, slap on some drag radials, and I'm willing to bet a case of beer that this auto car will run 10.50's at 131 with ease on a prepped track in stock form.....without the benefit of mine shaft air, by the way.

Agreed, but your average Joe is probably still going to go mid 12s low 13s in them.

I agree to a point. I think you will need near 0 ft DA or better.
