It needs some more work to run pass the 7:38 the GT-R did...

Track damp
Engineers driving
From a standing start and
Not an all out fast lap.
Now please GM do it in a
Dry track
With top drivers
From a flying start and
Wring the f**k out of the car (don't just settle for slightly beating the V-Spec)

1. How do you know it was from a standing start?
2. How do you know engineers were driving?
3. I think flying laps are longer,The GTR ran a flying lap, was it longer?
I think you have extrapolated data and track methods to substantiate the lap time. Why?
GM has at least new two cars over there to run times. They have the best drivers they can put in the car, not just engineers. That's to hard to believe. The whole idea of shipping the car there is to run the fastest possible lap time. They are not going to go though all the trouble and expense it takes to get the cars over there and forget or not use the best driver's.
I think we will see a much faster time in the ZR-1. Their just not done yet, or holding back on us. I bet they will have a film of the lap ready to view at the release of the car.

I admitt that the GM PR machine isnt as good as Nissan's fanboi powered PR machine.
I hope this doesnt happen again but GM's top drivers are also busy winning proper races. O'Connell/ Magnussen and Gavin/ Beretta recently finished the St. Petrsburg GT1 race around 5 days ago. Hopefully GM brings them in to properly drive the car before the Long Beach race.
Note that the previous Corvette ZO6 ring test, Magnussen spent a total of one day getting the time from the car and not weeks like Nissan did with their GTR.

What the hell is your problem?
Face it not everyone in this world bows down to the GTR and not everyone thinks that it can flog the corvette. There simply isnt many being raced around and the one that recently did lost to a ZO6 (street race).

You have a chip on your shoulder. Your undertones are not merited nor needed.
"fanboi powered PR machine"
"proper races"
How do you know Nissan was there for weeks? and so what if they were?
Take it easy. I don't understand the hate you have for another car.

Drifting
As I had expected all along, Z06>GTR.

What a tease... Engineers driving... A damp course! COME ON!
I still predict a run in the 7:20's with professional drivers and dry conditions. The ZR1 is no joke. I truly believe performance is about to be redefined.

Motor Trend put a production GTR on a dyno and came up with somewhere around 436rhp.
Sooooo, that 480hp number (they believe) is around 20-30 hp low. That and the Nissans ability to stay in the torque band longer than the Zo6 and 911 turbo make this cars acceleration amazing.
That said once past the 1/4 mile Motor Trend states that the Zo6 will pull on a GTR.

I guess we are starting to see some of the GTR's secrets..

The true owners of the GTR will largely be made of older true enthusiasts like many of us Z06 owners.
Also - Nissan quoted they spent 5,000 miles with the GTR at the Ring.
