Default Would LS7 American Racing headers fit in a ZR1?

Just wondering if I should keep mine when I sell my Z06 in preparation for a ZR1.

Or has anyone made a set of headers and sport cats for the ZR1 yet?

they should work, but double check the port on the headers, they are a d-port, and a slightly different different shape then the ls3-ls9 heads, you may need to grind them and open them up to make sure they dont obstruct flow

They do work, however, you will have to modify the left side header to fit around the extra large oil cooler block the ZR1 has. I have a ZR1 and had to do this.

Thanks for the replies. So will AR or others be making ZR1 specific headers?

What difference did fitting the modded AR headers make?

I imagine it sounds awesome!

If you get the Z06 headers made by Kooks Headers, they will fit the ZR1 with no modification.

I was under the impression that the LS9 used the same LS7 manifolds from the factory. I know I read it in one of the articles that came out about the LS9 when the ZR1's specs were first being released. If this is true, I would think the ports would match up fine, since the factory exhaust manifolds work on both. I have no idea if a header designed for the LS7 would be "optimal" for the ZR1 though.

I recently read where the folks at American Racing installed a set of their headers on a ZR1 and did some dyno testing. They made some very nice gaines in HP. Call or email Tom at American Racing:

I think that you may need to purchase a new set depending when you got the ones you currently have. Our original ZO6 system did'nt fit the way we would have liked it to so we modified it and now the system fits both cars. But we have a ZR1 specific system that has susbtle differences specific to that car mostly in the flange area. If you have any questions shoot me a PM and I will help you out
