Default Cyber Grey ZR1 vs Normal Cyber Grey C6

Does anyone know if there's a difference in the paint code, paint process, etc. that causes the Cyber Grey on the ZR1 to appear different than on the "normal" cars. When the pics of the ZR1 came out I kind of fell in love with Cyber Grey. Then the wife and I went and saw it on a Z51 coupe and it just "wasn't the same". This weekend we both went to the Cincy Auto show and saw a Cyber Grey ZR1 there and we both said the same thing............it had more blue flake in it than the Cyber Grey Z51 we had seen before. The Z51 was "dull" looking where the ZR1 wasn't. The lighting was similar, and I looked closely at each. Any ideas?

Then the mix on the "normal" car we saw must have been running low on blue flake as it was no where near as nice as the ZR1 we saw this weekend.

Thanks!

Same thing happens with Jet Stream Blue. Look at a JSB Coupe and a ZR1 on different days. You'd swear the coupe wasn't as nice. Some cars just make the color look better.

Exactly. It's amazing how much nicer the same color looks on a certain car..or body. JSB looks GREAT on ZR1.

It also depends on what kind of wax the person is using.....I have parked my cyber grey coupe with 10 coats of pinnacle next to a brand new one and saw the same effect. almost no blue metallic in the new one one...It is amazing how much depth this color has when prepped right.

That I would agree with if you were looking at the cars from a distance, but I wouldn't think there would be that much effect on two brand new unsold cars that when you get within 6 inches of the paint, you could see more or less of the blue flake in the paint. I may have to go out and see if I can find some more Cyber Grey Coupes to see if there's a diffence between them and the first one I saw.........which was a disappointment as it appeared very dull.........especially compared to the ZR1 we saw yesterday.

When you shell out $100,000 for a car everything looks richer.

Any chance it was specially prepared as a show car? It's not unknown for manufacturers (GM included) to virtually strip and rebuild cars destined for shows, and to give them a "show" paint job and prep.

That I couldn't say, but I do know it wasn't the same Cyber Grey one that was unveil at the major auto shows as that one had the up level interior, where as the one I saw was not roped off, walked right up to it, and it had the base interior.

The light you see it in makes a huge difference. In my garage - which I have eight flourescent fixtures with two-eight foot tubes in each one, I don't see any blue in it. But under a bright sun it jumps out at you.

The wider fenders have more curves possibly enhancing the metalflake shine in the sun probably the same with JSB... I prefer the extra curves on the widebodies HaHa!!!!!!!

It is not only the same paint as on the lowly 'ole C6, but also the $35K Chevy Traverse as well.

But I was 6 inches from both. The "normal" C6 didn't have near the blue the ZR1 I saw above did. Maybe that "normal" C6 was just an abnormality.

Went to the Dallas Auto Show last Thursday with my Wife, sister and her husband. They had a Cyber Gray ZR1. All four of us said the hood looked a different color gray than the rest of the body. I know at the plant the panels are painted at a different time but with the same paint code; But to our 8 eyes there was a difference in the paint.
