White 2011 Zr1 with contrasting headlamp paint
http://www.topspeed.com/cars/car-new...y-ar89449.htmlHi,
I am about to order an Arctic white ZR1 2011with comp grey wheels and ebony interior!
One of the features in 2011 is the ability to add contrasting color paint in the headlamp well.
I was thinking black or cyber gray. The carbon fiber roof b pillars and splitters are very dark grey or even black to my eye and I think the cyber grey, while matching the rims may be too light.
What do you guys think?
I saw the 2011 z06 briggs cunningham car with black in the headlamp area and it looked great (but that car has gloss black wheels). It is in the link above.

White with Comp Gray and Ebony interior is a great combination. I personally wouldn't go with with the contrasting color headlight enclosures. But that's me.
And if you decide not to get the contrasting pieces, why not buy the exact same car as a 2010 from Wes at Reliable for 11K or so off MSRP, or almost 4K under invoice? Seems like the benefits of a 2011 (other than the contrasting lights, if that's your thing) are minimal.

I agree, but I also think that on a ZR1 they should be carbon fiber. It would tie into the rest of the car.
Painted a dark contrasting color just wouldn't do it for me...unless you found someone that can airbrush a carbon fiber look on them. But I think by the time you paid for that, REAL carbon fiber headlight buckets would be cheaper.

IMO if it was not for all the CF showing on the ZR1 the contrast painted headlights would look good........ I think on a Z06 or GS the paint would be fine
But with the way a ZR1 looks with all the CF already being used I think the way Zippy has his headlights in CF is the way to go.
Personally I would go with the one Wes has and then add the CF headlights...... then still have enough left over to buy the custom seat/steering wheel package

Looks great with dark lights.. In my opinion, the full white front looks too plain.
With the dark wheels and carbon splitter up front, the dark headlights really compliment the car.
Here is a photoshop of the car above >>

Not sure how you did that...... care to share?
Personally I think contrasting headlights are a great idea for many of the colors....... as well is the contrasting stitching for 2011

$2k for the headlight buckets?
I wonder if you could wrap the OEM's with that 3M carbon fiber vinyl???
Has anyone tried this stuff from 3m

This site also has it shown.....

there's also a few you tube videos showing it's applications and how to clear coat over it for a glossy look. Just like the Zr1's exposed CF

That's why you see the reflections and those molded lines in the plastic - which look like carbon fiber in the picture...
I didn't add anything but color to that first picture.
It's not an exact science but the color I was shooting for was a dark graphite / cyber grey.
It can give you a good idea of what to expect but lighting, contrast and a million other factors could change the exact look.
If you wanted to simulate carbon fiber, you could add a herringbone texture to the mask and it would be pretty close..
This is not from the first picture.. I just wanted to try to simulate CF..
