ZR1 FASTER THAN Ferrari 458 at Texas Mile!!!!
How do you think we would fair againist one of these in the standing mile coming up in Texas? Seems to me we'll be real close.
No doubt now ZR1 was faster than the 458 !!!

Not so sure about that. The 458 looks like one badass car, and as much as I like the ZR1, the tests I've seen published on the internet so far, show that Ferrari really stepped up its game.
Check out these numbers:

The 458 was slower on the 'Ring, but it's not clear how they ran it--from a dead stop and including the section of the track that parallels pitlane (like the Z06 was timed at 7:42.9), or byaccelerating to the point where the clock starts as they exited pit lane, and stopping as they entered pit lane at the end of the lap (like the ZR1 was timed at 7:26.4). Given the numbers, I'm guessing it was the former.

Even if the performance numbers are exactly the same, The ZR1's are plentiful at 115,000 or (much) less and a 458 Italia will set you back 250,000 plus (markup and tax) unless you are willing to wait a year...
Now...go forward 5 years...(my opinion): You will lose enough on the 458 Italia, from it's purchase price and sales tax paid, and maintaining it to PAY FOR the ZR1...
Now...That's Performance
(As evidence I offer 360 Modenas were $190 to 220,000 new depending on transmission, brakes, interior options etc...They are now $100,000 less used)
Finally...I love the 458 Italia...and wish I could afford one!

I'll be taking the former down there to see how she does. Would love to be taking the latter, but unfortunately that gorgeous machine is outside my range.
This will be my fourth year going to the Texas Mile. And while I've seen several Lambos run the mile, I don't recall ever seeing a prancing horse run that event. Maybe one was there and I just missed it - you can't see every run if you're a participant. The lack of prancing horses seems a bit curious. Lots of P cars. Lots of FGTs. Lots of Vipers. Lots of Vettes. Several Lambos. One year even a gorgeous fully restored Pantera showed up and ran. And ran well. F cars. . . . . , not so much.
Don't know why that is.

who also tested the ZR1 and his time in the ZR1 was 7:38 also.
So, if he tested 7:38 in the ZR1 and it went 7:26 with Jim Mero driving, it sounds like maybe ole' Horst isn't the best driver which means the Italia also could go a whole lot quicker with a better driver.

The 458 is a superior car (you don't even have to drive it...it's just the case), but in a straight line, I don't know.

Faster top speed or quicker to a certain speed? as the post above yours shows you how quick the Italia is 3 seconds quicker to 186 mph. Italia tops out at 202 mph, be a great race.

3538 LBS / 660 BHP = 5.36 LBS / BHP
458 Italia dry weight is 3042 according to Ferrari. I estimate curb weight is around 3250.
3250 LBS / 570 BHP = 5.7 LBS / BHP
The ZR1 curb weight is 3333 according to GM.
3333 LBS / 638 BHP = 5.22 LBS / BHP
Draw conclusions as you will, acutally driving the cars is a big variable.

BUT, that time of 7:38 was done by Horst von Saurma

guys, there are videos of 458's racing LP560s on the web, they are dead even, which means the ZR1 would beat that thing.
I do see alot here in Dubai, but they seemed to dissapear, especially after the ferraris starting burning and ending up in ashes. for those who dont know, theres a worldwide recall on 458's which seem to burn spontaneously...
