yeah its funny

but when the stig took it on a lap time in there track it did a bad time slower than a gtr, a ford GT , a Lotus 2-eleven, a lambo lp640 and a 997 gt2 !!!
they blamed it on the traction control

It was kind of a dumb segment on the car. The part about 0-60 was annoying. How hard is it to know to shift at redline? Plus not knowing how to turn off the TC/AH is pretty stupid.

I honestly think that was the worst review on any car I've ever seen. 5 minutes of 0-60 failures. Not knowing redlines.... Not knowing how to turn off TC.... Saying Chevy and Ferrari are competing against one another (which is ridiculous, at least in the consumer world). I mean really, how many people cross shop 'new' ZR1's and Ferrari's? Other than the visuals, this review was an utter failure.

Well in Australia where a zr1 is $250k+ I would assume it is cross shopped with a ferrari.

Guys, please don't take this show or its comments seriously.

My guess is the programs editor/script writters are more focused on comedy than serious auto-reviews.

As for their claim...."a new Corvette C6 ZR1 costs $350,000AUS which includes $100,000AUS Luxury Car Tax" is simply NOT true!

FWIW my right hand drive 2009 CGM ZR1 cost me a total of $265,000AUS when our exhange rate was $1.00AUS=$0.76US back in May 2009.

A new 2011 C6ZR1 re-engineered to right hand drive will cost us approx. $230,000AUS as our $aussie approaches parity with your $US.

I'd say as is typical with most print media, they never let the facts get in the way of a good story.

As for the Aussie Stig's test track fast lap in the 2010 C6ZR1, it reminded me of Jeremy Clarkson's efforts around Top Gear UK's test track. He was all over the place with the C6ZR1.

I recently looked at a 2011 C6Z06 with the Z07 and CFZ options, $245,000. Who did your conversion? Performax or Corvette Clinic?

Corvette Clinic.....my home is only 120kms from their workshop. This is my third RHD conversion with CC. Peter & Kane now include a leather wrapped dash for the C6.....simply stunning.

If you click on "My Garage" you can view some pics of my 09ZR1.

I really enjoy the original Top Gear, this show clearly hasn't captured the same flavor. I hope the US Top Gear isn't this bad.

I may not always agree with Clarkson's opinions, but I can't recall ever watching an episode and thinking "This isn't a car guy"

The presenter of the Australian Top Gear ZR1 segment really came across as an actor doing a job.

There is a difference between a show made by people that love cars and a show made as a money making knock off.

This is their second attempt at TGA, both times its sucked. They really need to grab some car enthusiasts with a sense of humour and let them loose. That'd make great TV!

Sure, the gap is narrowed in price. But I still think someone buying a new Ferrari isn't looking at any Vette, and vice-versa. Other than performance, they are exact opposites in how they entice buyers. Of course there's always exceptions....

Onerareviper,

Here in Oz, a new Ferrari 458 retails for $580-590KAUS,a Lambo LP 550-2 $399KAUS,a LP 560 4 $549KAUS,a Porsche 911 GT3 $297KAUS & 911 Turbo S Cabriolet $472KAUS.

Even if the C6ZR1 did cost the $350KAUS as claimed by Top Gear Australia, it would still represents great value for your money compared to the European offerings. At $250KAUS, the C6ZR1 is even better value IMHO.......but what do I know!
