Default New record 10.66

I will start by saying what a great day we had at the track I made almost 40 passes in my stock 09 ZR1 with dr's on it:

1.639..........60'
4.566..........330'
6.934..........1/8@103.79
8.958..........1000'
10.668.........1/4@132.52

I had 2 passes 10.6x.....12 passes of 10.7x.....12 passes of 10.8x the day was great, DA was around -1000 or better all day, track prep was great as always at MIR

The problem was the tires I had. I did not want to spend the crazy $ for CCW's that make the only 18" wheel that will clear the ZR1 brakes. I had stock C6Z rear 19's with 345 30 19 Nitto Nt05r's they are .4 taller than stock tires and It showed as my trap speeds were averging 1 MPH lower than all my stock tire passes before I could easily break 133 on almost any pass on stock tires but the taller tire I was mostly in the 132's and it was killing my splits from 330' to 1/4. I will let Jamie Furman tell about his experience with the same tire set-up today too.

unfortunately the 10.66 was not cought on tape but here is the 10.69 (thanks Waynecar/Fartpipe)

The 134.55 MPH pass

My stock tire pass (thanks Ranger):

very nice, congrats!

btw, are your C6Z wheels oem or reproductions? I recently installed some NT05R's as well, was curious how they would affect my mph at the strip. Thanks!

They are factory speedlines. I was worried when I first put them on....I could feel the car was not pulling as well. And I never ran a 330" to 1/4 as fast as I have on stock tires.

Congrats Kyle you are obviously the best ZR1 driver out there period!!!!! Proof is in the pudding and you would've made Bill Cosby BLUSH today sir!
Your shifting was very smooth but the launch just amazes me what you were able to accomplish, repeat and put it all together. The 134mph trap was beautiful!! I'll get you videos up as soon as I can. Apparently Wayne went crazy and we thought the battery died on the camera but more like he filled the damn thing up

Great job, Kyle. Congratulations.

Looks like the clutch is doing OK. That yellow ZR1 now has over 50 passes, right?

Until today, when was the last rental in the right lane? How far out did you prep the track?

Probably about 70 passes in the yellow one now. We only preped to 330' and its been over a month since the track was used.....very bumpy to start the day

Believe our rental on Nov 29th may have been last one then. I waited for another thru Dec 13, but the weather didn't cooperate.

I'm surprised the surface came around as well as it did considering the aggressive freeze/thaw cycles it has been through. Jason does great work.

Regarding tires, suggest you start hunting up some CCW Corsairs (18") to borrow. The diameter of that big Nitto is ill-suited to the 2.29 first gear and it cuts the effective rear axle ratio as you saw on the 330-1320. Actually do a comparo on the 60-1320 for Nittos v Stock tires. The effect is surprisingly.

Still, great job.

Congrats!

A 10.668 @132.52 MPH is in line with the fastest cam and header Z06 times on the fast list. So anybody that is still saying there is very little difference between the two cars should be convinced by this run.

With some 1.5 60fts and like Ranger said some 18inch CCW's on there I can see 10.5's@ 134+ mph for sure.

Video and more details will follow in the coming days!
I was there and all I can say is those guys are lying! I didn't see a run under 12.1 from anyone!

I really had a good time with Fartpipe, Wayne, and Kyle laughing and cutting up all day. Kyle is really dialed in when it comes to launching and driving a ZR1 and really gets the job done! As far as my experience goes is simple I had the same setup as Kyle but I could not leave on the drag radials without getting my clutch hot, as I am used to driving a Z06 which is a much easier car to drive. I don't have the seat time or skill at this point to compete with Kyle as he has surpassed my 10.79 and 10.69 on the street tire and drag tire times, so Kyle if you need a Valet I am available! I disagree with the tires not being the right size though, as Kyle had a pass I witnessed that was 134.5 mph which is by far the fastest I have ever seen in a stock car and I can't imagine that any stock car could go faster with any size tire and I am sure once Kyle really gets used to those tires and develops a consistent techinque of driving with them like he did on the 134.5 pass the splits and final numbers will be as good as they can be. For drivers like me who have trouble launching his ZR1 I think a slightly shorter tire would be beneficial but if you can drive good enough the tires which Kyle and I used today were perfect. Really the only problem I had with the tires was my lack of skill!

Awesome driving Kyle!! Like Ranger pointed out and what you already know, with the right tire combo on there you'll have your 10.5x. Wish I could have gone...

that's not very accurate, considering Fartpipe ran 10.34 at the same track on the same day with just bolt-ons (c6z). A cam would pick up another 50whp+ which would make the gap even larger. The ZR1 is still king though

let me know if you are interested in seeing a video of a h/c c6z vs stock ZR1 from a roll, there is a significant difference.

There are Bolt on Z06's that have gone faster than this current record set by this ZR1 but if you average out most of the bolt on Z06's numbers on the " Fast list " other than the top 3...blownlt1&c6z's time of 10.67 is faster and I think the car has a 10.5 in it if all things are perfect. Not trying to be a jerk but a roll race is not what we are all talking about here as there would be a whole lot of variables to that discussion.

As Jamie said this car trapped 134.5mph and that is just amazing for a stock car on DR's.

This run did it for me.... I'm now an official ZR1 fanboi
