Default - From bone stock to an animal !!!

Hello guys !!

a friend of mine bought a brand new 10' ZR1 last month the car is awesome in every way...
after 1300miles the stock power wasn't enough anymore..

So I told him let's do bone stock dyno runs before we install anything

91 octane 98F SAE Smoothing 5 less than 1300miles

1st 529rwhp 498rwtq
2nd 530rwhp 505rwtq
3rd 534rwhp 508rwtq

I believe the numbers are good for the mileage, fuel and weather right??

after that I contacted Trevor@TexasSpeed & performance for the fun stuff..

Here is the new mods list:

Kooks 1.7/8 headers / off road x-pipe
LPE CAI.
LPE Blower high flow snout.
LPE idler.
2.60 pulley.
ATI Super Damper.
KATECH Heat exchanger.

We installed everything but ATI super damper which will arrive next week hopefully.

Boost rised from 9.5 to 13psi ..
Same fuel 91 octane , 98F and SAE Smoothing 5

started with 599rwhp 550rwtq Very rich
589rwhp 586rwtq
600rwhp 594rwtq
ended with 627rwhp 618rwtq

The car is an animal 590rwhp @ 3800rpm we're very happy with numbers we're hoping for 640-650rwhp after we install the ATI pulley.

next mods Heads/cam + 80shot and CCW MT345/35/18
hoping for 800+rwhp 900+rwtq.

I have the dyno runs I'll edit the vids and post it Thursday..

the car feels awesome on the street when the those exhaust valves open just hold on I noticed after the mods the car got extemely loud at WOT.

Cost of the parts is not cheap because we had to pay for shipping the parts all the way around the world..
but IMO Worth every penny 100rwhp 120rwtq gains from couple of boltons is great.

from 40mph in 1st gear the is sick (280lbs driver + 210lbs passenger )
the car hooks very nice.

Default Enough for what......

A stock ZR1 isn't "enough anymore". Isn't enough for "what"?

Speed is a drug. First you think stock power is good until you start upgrading.

Wow. Those are some good mods. And you've attained some very real power benefits.

IMO, you might want to consider stopping where you are on the mods. You've got monster power, and likely very close still to stock durability. Would hate to see you degrade that by going too far.

.....I dought anyone that dumps 100k plus then another 10k or so in upgrades really cares about all that and if it pops they would just probably build a bigger monster..

The power is great for a stock car but there is always room for improvement. Its nice to see the numbers on 91. I plan to be doing the same mods next month but haven't picked my cam yet. Consider me subscribed!

Yeah, heck you're probably right. Might as well go with a 300 shot. Or better yet a 400 shot. Let's rock that baby!

what is he running for rear tires/rims?, any size change?, i have a hard time hooking up until i get into third gear, can't imagine that increase in power is any good until you get into past third..then it should be a fun ride.

After reading what the ZR1 produced stock .The suspicions that my 08 Z06 with cam, headers, CAI & tune was every bit as fast as my ZR1.

I did some of the the same mods on my zr1 too. not quite as many 2.60 pulley, hp tune, 91 octane, made 616 rwhp, up from about 535 rwhp. traction was a joke in the lower gears. just put some 345 nittos 105 street radial on 19 inch ccw wheels. no more traction problems but I think the clutch is now borderline. Any body know how much the stock clutch will take. Have any recommdations on a clutch?

He's using stock tires/rims for now, We're very surprised but the car hooks very nice when there is 190-210lbs passenger in the car..

I have a video I can't post here though 40mph in 1st gear all the way to 205mph in 6th

We tested this ZR1 when it had 400miles VS Boltons/cammed C6ZO6 524rwhp From 30-150mph ZO6 won by 2 cars but the ZR1 was coming (if we kept going the ZR1 will win )

Great numbers..
LPE beat the living hell out of the stock clutch it will hold 650-750rwhp for a while..
I recommend the RPS Clutch..

You think how many power must zr1 gain to kill 700whp GTR ?
what is the limit power for stock block LS9 ?
How much time did this ZR1 take from 40 mph to 186mph-205mph ?

I hope that you upload ZR1 vids on your youtube channel

Thank you
