I hope they can fix it with the tire re-balance, but with all the issues I have read about I am not feeling real good about this being any kind of a simple fix. Hopefully if they can't solve the issue tomorrow a new set of wheels will. Keeping my fingers crossed! Wish me luck.
Wishing you BIG luck! If the right people get a hold of it , it should get fixed Keep us posted!

At 1,200 miles they could not get the front wheels road-force balanced to spec so they replaced the front tires. They say that it is now in spec but the vibration is still there. It may be a tad better as it seems to have moved up the speedometer a little. It's now more noticeable at 78-82 mph.

I provided the dealer a link to this thread and told him that this is a known issue and that we need to get GM involved. He's having the GM rep come in next week or the week after (because of the Thanksgiving holiday). I'll update when I know more.
Interesting. Hope all the info in this thread helps you!
Good luck and please do update us

So I have a 2010 ZR1 with 3,000 miles on it, had wheel road force balanced and long story short I still have vibration at 75-80. I just got 4 new cup tires and new cup wheels. It will be interesting to see if the different style factory wheels and tires solves my vibration problem.

I'll probably have the new wheels and tires swapped out after thanksgiving and will report back what impact they have if any.

So I just installed my brand new 2012 cup wheels and tires, and I still have the same vibration from 75-80. This proves that the problem is not a wheel or tire issue.

Expensive way to find out....

Hello GM???

What now.....

What it proves is that the PROBLEM is very COMPLEX ... not a simple fix to say the least.

Did a 4 wheel alignment and everything is either perfect or within .10 degrees

Bitter....

One thing I have noted is that the higher the front tire air pressure is, the worse it gets? Anyone else noted that?

Haven't gone past 33 psi but the vibration on mine does not seem to get worse but stays about the same.

Mine goes back in next week for another review.

As I have noted before, ours is very sensitive to road conditions ... some help excite it while others will continue very smooth .. or some of it could be related to "side-side" phasing.
Anyway, I have played a little with tire pressure and sense there could be some influence which makes sense along with road surface inputs..... i.e. -- not a fix

We have played with alignment finding no influence on "vibration" .. per other posts, our alignment is now closer to the std C6 with very good tire wear.

Our appointment with the GM rep has been scheduled for Tuesday, 11/29. Accepting all advice on what to tell them and/or what information to share with them to avoid getting the "it's normal for your vehicle" excuse.

Thanks.

You may hear that but I hope not. Someone I know was told that it was characteristic of the car.

I believe my response to that would be: It may be but only to the flawed ZR1's not all ZR1's. And I'm not accepting that answer.

In Ga. it's 3 times in for the same repair and then they get one final attempt before the lemon law can kick in. (as I understand it)

Please let us know how it goes. I'm back in soon myself.

Actually, mine's not a ZR1. It's just a regular ole Coupe. My argument will stress the point that, aside from being annoying, it is a safety issue to me. I don't feel safe driving a car at 75-80 mph with the front-end shimmying like it does.

Not so sure about it not being all ZR1's. As I said before, the problem could be more widespread than anyone has given rise to at this point.

The matter could come down to the luck of the draw and that when all the variables become known, a greater number of ZR1's could be affected than those we know of today, including my own rock solid 09 ZR1.

My 2009 and my 2010 were not cars that had the vibration. They were very smooth cars and a pleasure to drive. Not so with my 2012. I don't like taking it out because the vibration ruins the drive experience. at least for me.

Same here. I feel like I'm driving a jalopy.

What I'm not seeing in this threat is discussion of possible carbon rotor imbalance. I have a 2011 Z06 with the Z07 brake package (same brakes/rotors, tires, and wheels as the ZR1), and luckily have no vibration. However, in other threads on this subject, I have seen lots of discussion of rotors produced by Brembo in a particular timeframe which may be experiencing vibration problems due to imbalance They have been refered to as "non-validated" rotors. One post author swapped his tires and wheels back and forth between his ZR1 and same year Z06 (non-carbon brakes), and the vibration stayed with the ZR1. Just food for thought....

Default Great News!

Took my car into Dipetro Tire for their people to look at the vibration issue. All I can say is that these guys were awesome. Spent 3 hours working on the car. Found that the left front tire was so far out of balance that it failed to pass on the Hunter Road Force machine. He pulled the tire off the rim and checked the rim for round and found it to be within tolerances. Remounted tire and did about 4 realignments of the tire on the rim to get it as close to the target goal as possible. He re-balanced all four tires and got all of them to read zero for any added weight. He told me that the car should ride a whole lot better, but he found that the front left did have a small bump in it and in his opinion it needed replaced. My Gawd what a difference. There is hardly any vibration at all from 70 mph on up the speedo! I talked with my dealer and they said that they would get the tire replaced for me. So at this point I am very satisfied with the results! Not sure if all the talk about rotors being the problem is actually the case. Either way I hope that everyone having problems can be as fortunate as I was to have a tire company that took the time to find a fix to the vibration problem. I just hope it doesn't come back with more miles on the car. If your in the Columbus Ohio area and need a good tire company to go to, Dipetro Tire gets my vote!!!!!!

This makes sense to me. I didn't have a problem until I traded rims and tires. I plan to get everything Road Force balanced and will post the results.

Don't forget the luck of the draw in all this - the possibility that by chance, the wheels were set on lugs where the whole problem became no existent, as was reported in another thread by I believe Richie. Therefore, there is the possibility that when you have new tires installed or when you replace a sensor, this problem will raise it's ugly head - that's what concerns me.

Can you imagine the dealer (or GM) response when that happens a couple of years down the road???
