We first balanced the wheel and tire. Then we mounted the rotor on the balancing machine and spun it up to see how far out it was. Then I bolted with 5 12 x 1.5 metric bolts and lug nuts. It centered pretty well but we loosened the bolts and put centering cones on both side. Then we re balanced. The new balance was off exactly what the rotor was out. Weight was applied at the very outer edge of the rim right under the rotor edge.

IIWM I'd get the rotors fixed. Tires don't last that long (unless you are driving 2-3k miles a year.

I noticed my rotors do have those little bolt on weights like pictured earlier in this thread but obviously either not good enough or something has changed.. So elaborate on how I get these rotors "fixed" dealer ship and get them rebalanced or will they give me new replacements ? Car is a 2012 with 12k on it so should still be warrantied technically. ..

So it seems I also have the vibration issue on my 2011 zr1. At first I assumed it was because the car had the original (read old) tires when I bought it but I just replaced the wheels and tires, had them road force balanced and I still have vibrations at 80mph.

Question I have is, has anyone ran the car up to high speeds (150+mph) with the vibration issue? Was it safe?
I have a local 1/2 mile event coming up and I'm not sure I'll have time to go through all the bs procedures before the event to try and fix the issue but I want to be safe as well

And has anyone tried to "balance" the assembly by using 1 or more heavier lug nuts?
If the rotor is unbalanced by 1oz maybe it would balance out by having a 1.5oz heavier lug nut near the unbalance location, no?

i dont think that would work as the lug nuts are near (on top of) the hat. The unbalanced location is on the edge of the rotor. That is close to where you place the temp wheel weight (on the wheel).

Yeah makes sense now, thanks for clarifying.
Any answers to my first questions?

Well I ended up bitting the bullet and having the rotors and wheels balanced. Not to difficult aside from taking it all apart and back together. But I'm glad I did as the car is not nice a smooth.
1 front rotor was out by 1oz and one rear was out by .25oz, other 2 were good.

great news. My issues were nearly identical to yours (my right rear wheel was .5 oz out)

Where are you guys getting the rotors and wheels balanced together ? My tire shop told me they won't do it. I guess that I need to call the dealer later.

I got mine done at a local shop, The manager let me come in on a Saturday and he and I did them. Keep looking, try a speed shop where they might let you participate.

neither occurs. The rotors are spun separately to determine the imbalance. Once you know this you can balance the wheel and then put the wheel out of balance with the corresponding weight of the rotor imbalance. PM me with your email and i can send you the aston martin procedure.

I spun my rotors, one was out an ounce and the other 1/2oz. Then I mounted to the balanced wheel and spun again. The machine told us exactly where to put the additional weight. I have the rotors indexed to the wheel, and the hub.

Dealing with the same issue. Have had the car balanced several times now, including road force balancing. Found this thread this morning and must have called 5-6 dealerships. All spoke to me like I was an idiot. Every single one told me that rotors can't be balanced. Called Coughlin Chevrolet last and spoke with the Vette tech. He had one customer with this issue, they put the rotors on the balancer and ended up replacing. Sounds like we're on our own.

That's what I figured last year when I took it upon myself to come up with a solution. It has been in balance for over a year now. Totally changed the car.
