C6Z06, Mayhem II and Akrapovic Install
RPT completed another installed of the EnglandGreen Mayhem II Camshaft and seems to be the norm around here. We have installed them in LS1, LS6, LS3 and LS7 Engines and all have been flawless. This particular one was on a 2009 Atomic Orange Z06 with 15K miles. This Z06 is a real special Corvette and has always gotten a lot of attention. With the carbon fiber front splitter, side skirts and rear spoiler….it is a real one of a kind.
The cam installation included:
EnglandGreen Mayhem II
Patriot Gold Dual Valve Springs
Comp Cams 7.800” Hardened Pushrods
Comp Cams Trunion Upgrade
160 Degree Thermostat
Gaskets and Fluids
RPT Custom Dyno Tuning
I have working with this Z06 for quite sometime and has been a pleasure to be a part of it throughout the modification process. After it was all said and done, this Z06 is a beast and pulls hard. The driving manners are so good, the car drives like stock. With most cams, you have to give the car a tad more clutch to get it moving. Not with this one. The Vette can be coasted around with no gas pedal input during take off or parking lot maneuvers.
Here are the results and videos.

This Z06 still has stock heads, stock intake manifold and stock exhausts manifolds. The only other mod that it has is the Halltech Super Bee.

Why use headers on your build? I thought stock manifolds made more power than longtubes.

Lemme help you loafy....I posted that I have read an article that thompson automotive wrote that the ls7 manifold flows amazingly well and that on most builds they make more hp and less torque than long tubes. I like the sound of long tubes and a loud lopy car. Thats my style if you will. I have seen with my own 2 eyes two back to back Dynos on 2 different LS7's one with 1 7/8 Kooks the other with stock manifolds. Both cars with Halltechs and medium sized cams for a 427 and it appears that the thompson article was correct. That is what i read and what i have personally seen. Bigger is not always better believe it or not. But loud and lopy is dam cool.

conflicting reports show minimal gains w/ headers on a bolt-on car as the stock manifolds do flow quite well. on a cammed car(even with heads) your leaving precious HP/TQ on the table not going to longtubes.
i guess LG,QM,CMS,Katech,RPM etc have not read thompsons article either.
also, call the Guinness Book as 2 records should be recorded here:
1. highest rwhp c6z w/ halltech+tune=507rwhp
2. highest rwtq c6z w/ cam,halltech,tune=528rwtq
not bashing here or starting ****, contemplating a new top end pkg. i have lethal cam, vararam, headers, ported intake makin 530/500.
if you can gaurantee me 45rwhp/28rwtq by switching cams-COUNT ME IN!!!

thats a weak sauce 427 then sir....the cars make around 450 to 470 stock so you got 80 hp on the heavy side for how much money?
i see countless built 346's making 480 to as high as 520 on a stock bottom end....not my fault if you own a 427 and do not know who thompson is.....i try to educate myself as much as possible, maybe you should give it a try. do not take it personal as you say, just trying to help....you should have used RPT or EG instead of lethal IMHO based on what i have read and seen....its all good though enjoy what you have and try and be respectful to others opinions and so forth....take a look at the second link and you will see how far apart these cars can be with the same package....
