Default How many of you have done a tune on a stock ZR1?

Results? Is the factory tune ultra conservative?

My last couple of Z06's REALLY woke up even before mods.

We've got 94 octane pump gas here, so I'm just wondering about the gains in tuning a stock ZR1.

Thanks,

John

You're lucky all we can get here is 91 oct...Do you mind me asking where in Ontario did you get your tune done ?..there must be some good Corvette mod shops in your area..may take mine up to Ontario and get some work done if I can find a good trustable shop...I'm from Nova Scotia.

I am wondering on the results too.

I always wonder if some of these mid 10 second runs are with some tweaking or a tune.

make sure that 94 Ontario gas doesn't have Ethanol in it. I would rather run Shell V Power 91 then a 94 with Ethanol.

Shell V power in Western Canada is Ethanol free.

I just heard Petro Canada has 94 in Alberta in a few places but it says on their web site it has Ethanol in it... no thanks.

BC Chevron 94 has no Ethanol, I have thought of a road trip with 10 - 5 gallon jerry cans to fill up in Golden or maybe Valemount ... haha.

BC has the best gas but they impound your car if you get caught at 40 km/hr ( 24 mph ) over the speed limit.. sucks.

I believe our 94 does have as the sticker says ' up to 10% ' E. (not 100% sure but will check on my next fill ) Avail at most PetroCanada's as they, along with Husky bought up Sunoco stations.

With just a tune are the bottom numbers. Middle numbers are stock. There was really no cool down done so it would have been a bit higher and thats still a very conservative tune.

Vector claims 45-50 rwhp with their tune:

Been tempted, but just have crappy 91 octane gas here in AZ, plus the warranty concerns....

Sometimes they have a sticker near all 3 grades but it doesn't count for high test ( premium )... Email and ask. Station attendant.... not sure if I would trust him or her.. unless they are a car guy.

Call a customer number on a website or send in an email.

My brother emailed Shell and was told no Ethanol in Alberta ( i think Western Canada )

In Ontario Shell V-power 91 is the only gas that is 100% Ethanol free. Ultra 94 contains upto 10%. A year a so ago Petro Canada offered its 91 Ethanol free, but most stations converted once it was bought out by Sunoco and now using 94. Ethanol free is what I am using now.

My experience with Vector has been nothing short of amazing.

In December 2005 I took my new and stock AWD Trailblazer SS to the track, with the Vector tune in hand.

Baseline, over 3 runs, it ran a best of 13.988. (1st stock AWD TBSS run in the 13's BTW)

I loaded the Vector tune in and ran a 13.519.

Great thanks.

I did a mail order tune for a common supercharged combo for my other car and it was perfect.

I sent a PM to the Vector guy asking a few questions, I might be trying one.

So bottom line, there's quite a bit left in the stock tune?

I believe Vector does all the tuning for Katech (right across the street) They seem to have a good reputation.
