ZR1's do us proud
Big event up here in Alberta..................Race the Base. http://racethebase.ca/
These were the STOCK results, 3rd place for the ZR1.
I have been watching 1/4 fast lists, high speed, top speed lists etc and I really believe the 09 ZR1 is/was the fastest/quickest ZR1 made. Don't know why, but facts don't lie.
On a side note, the Aventador was in a league by itself in this competition. I know, I know, it should be, it costs...........yada, yada, yada........

Looks like an awesome event for a great cause. I wish there was something similar where I live.

I'm not sure about the 2009 ZR1 being the fastest one ever made, I think much more depends on the driver than what year stock ZR1 is used

ZR1's what?

It is happening too often to be coincidence.

Maybe, but I don't think so, in all honesty it doesn't take a rocket scientist to drive a mile with the pedal to the medal. 1/4 times, sure it helps to have a good driver, but there are good drivers with newer years that are much slower than those big times posted by the '09 drivers.

I left my Z at home because it would have just been another Vette and took my 4dr ZR1 (aka. a CTS-V) and went 239kph, but it ain't stock. There was no traction, I spun until the 3-4 shift, probably at least a 1/4 mile so is it possible the driver could account for the difference between the ZR1s?
Some side notes, the Carrera GT that went 231kph had a recent $50,000 engine rebuild. The C6Z06 that went 251kph had a new 500CID Katech engine and race slicks. The 254kph C5Z06 was supercharged and had N2O, the Ford GT at 247kph had a Whipple. The TT Porsche at 258kph and the Switzer800 GTR at 251kph both ran full race tunes with 116 fuel.
Cheers, Paul.

The grey ZR1 wasn't stock, not sure if it was the 09, but it did have Lingenfelter all over it and Carbon Fiber exhaust.
As a second time spectator and possible entrant (They never messaged me back if participation was still available), I was very disappointed in the second attempt here in Cold Lake. From a participant's point of view, it looked to be great and a lot of fun, especially with the different events taking place.
From a spectator point of view, it was terrible. Big screens with no results, long delays where there didn't need to be. No grandstands to gain view points and sit down. Food and drink a long way away from anything. Just very poorly setup and designed for anyone trying to watch. I've heard rumours it won't happen again. I'm not sad, unless they bring in people who know how to put on an event for spectators to enjoy, this one is dead.
/rant and I apologize, but the first attempt was much more exciting. Maybe it was just supercar overload the first time, and now it wasn't as special to see them all again. A lot of people were upset that the Enzo didn't show, the Gallardo TT wasn't there to race the jet as advertised, even the MC-12 was missing - all in Germany being modified (poor planning if you ask me).

Right. Cuz unlike the 1/4 where you have to manage your launch, redline and nail your shifts, you can pretty much ignore all that and still punch top trap speeds. Especially on a non-prepped surface like most Mile events have.

Actually, you are giving yourself too much credit. Most drivers at these events are normal guys having fun, except of course, guys like you who are pros and make like it was all about you getting those mind boggling speeds.

The fact of the matter is that the driver is going to have affect on trap speed for a 1/4 or a standing mile in a ZR1. When I go to the track with guys like Kyle, Ranger, and Jamie they usually trap 2-3mph higher than me in stock ZR1s (sometimes even in the same car) for a 1/4 mile and I am not a bad shifter either. This has to do with their shift speeds and ability to hit the shift points. This would be no different for a standing mile run. If they are 2-3 mph faster than me at the 1/4 mark then they are going to be at least that if not faster at the one mile mark. I could easily see driver ability making a difference of 5 mph for a standing mile speed. People don't seem to realize how much shifting speed and percision can affect the trap speed of a ZR1.

....................especially if they are in the faster and quicker '09's.
