Until such happens a simple pulley swap will be enough to keep me happy with my ZR, all though a Z07 to replace the GS might be an option

It is great fun to read about everyone's speculation about the next hi-po vette and whatever name it gets. While it may be spectacular, I am so happy with my 2012 CE that I just don't have a need (as yet) to even consider buying another vette. I can't handle the power of my stock ZR1, so a new one with 700hp is irrelevant or at the very least unnecessary for me. Fun and fantastic for us enthusiasts to brag about, but irrelevant to me. Even if I consider getting another vette in the future, my current one is a keeper.

I plan to attend the Chicago Auto Expo in February, the claimed largest new car expo in the nation. I wonder if they will have more info to reveal then?

This discussion belongs in the C7 section. Until it gets moved...

If by "outdone" you mean in horsepower output, then: no it doesn't. Nothing Ford is doing is on Team Corvette's RADAR. At. All. They seriously do not care what Ford's putting into a Mustang, and they never will.

Mustangs and Corvettes are not cross-shopped. Any belief to the contrary is exceptional (exceptions do not the rule make...) and silly, really.

I sure hope it's not S/C'd, that really would be a ball buster move on GM's part IMHO.

Personally I really don't care if it's NA SC'd or Turbo powered as long as there's lots of HP and TQ but if it is SC'd I doubt you'll see a ZR1 in my opinion.

If I had to choose between a regular C7 and ZR1, it would be a ZR1 all day long. Now a C7 Z06 with the LT4, I would take the Z06. But the
ZR1 is one of the most beautiful Corvette's ever made, and a beast of a performer.

I see there are plenty of people out there who think they know more about tracking cars than the company dominating ALMS. If GM is putting out a S/C'd Z06, maybe they know what they are doing.

"Most trackable Vette ever." Don't let your dogma run over your Carma.

There is so much margin built into the ZR-1 for obvious reasons, I think one could almost call it "detuned." So much left on the table, and all the nice traction and handling nannies you can't get aftermarket (can you?). I wonder how many guys drop a pulley on their ZR's the day their warranties expire (someone should do a poll). Better get some drag radials though!

I'm sure you've all seen that video of the Stig driving Hennessey's dropped-pulley white ZR around the Top Gear track...best time evah.

me think gm is replacing the outgoing zr1 with the z06 since they are super charging it and there will not be a zr1 anytime soon.
They will be able to claim the new z06 is as fast or faster than the zr1, and if my assumption is correct will then be priced accordingly (103-106 and up).
Or, they will price it at 85k which will be a slap in our faces, and the c6zr1 will be the last gm i buy... because they'd have to explain to me and all 4700 of us that bought a zr1 why the new one is as fast for 30k less...hmmm

Yeah agreed I would be shocked if the new C7 Z06 is under $100k.

I dont think so, here's my theory. We all know that the ZR1 wasnt supposed to be, but with the GM going bankrupty and the tanking economy. they decided to postpone C7 R&D. The answer to that a super C6 variant.....The blue devil!! It was littarely a test bench for GM,But remain in the C6 body. Because they couldn't justified in hard economy millions dollards for corvette devellopement. Just thinkof every single new features of the ZR1 they are now using at large but cheaper! pricey carbon coating, Carbon brakes(C7 Z06) 6,2 supercharged, neat PTM Crazy factories fuel pump setup, clutches and the list goes on. So i might be wrong, but Im thinking No C7 ZR1, time will tell i guess

There WILL be a twin turbo V8 and it will go in the next ZR1 and at least one super Cadillac model. Count on it.
