Default question about my carbon ceramic break disks

just picked up a 2011 z06 and it came with carbon ceramic break disks and zr1 wheels... my question is if i pick up a set of black cup reproduction wheels in 18x9.5 F 19x12 R will they be too small for the rotors? i really have always liked the look of the cup wheels.

thankyou in advance

You can buy cup wheels in 19"/20" sizes. I have them on my 2011 Z06/Z07.

You need 19's and 20's.

The reproduction cups will look great and won't BRAKE the bank.

i see what you did there very nice

i was hoping to size down because the price of tires goes up $700 just to have 19/20 combo but just eye balling the clearance i see your point its gotta be 19/20 to clear those calipers and rotors... i love the look of these zr1 wheels anyway ill just drop the money on the Michelins

18" reproductions will unlikely clear the calipers and discs. You will need aftermarket wheels like Forgelines, CCW's or Finspeeds to clear them if you want to stay with an 18" wheel.

Ceramics cannot and won't need to be turned, and if this is a street only car, the ceramics should probably last you a lifetime. The only time the ceramics become an issue is when you track the car a lot but some have changed out the ceramic rotors for steel which is a much more affordable option.

i thankyou very much for your speedy reply... i really like the cup wheels but my competition gray zr1 wheels have grown on me... the tires are stupid expensive but Michelin is the best in the business so PS2 zp for me

yes, the Michelin Sport Cups are really expensive and if you track your car they wont last much more than 5 days of tracking. At +$2500 for a set, it gets very costly.

For a street only car, PS2's, Bridgestone RE11's, Nitto NT05's and even Toyo R888's are a better options and nearly half the cost of the Sport Cups.

You did not say what color your car is our how it is optioned; CFZ, CF hood, 3LZ, but I would not change those ZR1 rims at all...they are on the car for a reason...depending on color and options, you could have one of the most desirable C6 Z06's made, IMO.

The NT05's and the R888's are not available in the 19/20 sizes he would need unless he spends big $ on special 18" front wheels to clear the ceramic rotors.

its a beauty...its the z07 package so no carbon fiber hood or splitter or wing but its torch red with competition gray wheels... it draws attention for sure

OP, congrats on your Z06 w/Z07 package !

Make sure you use the rotor protectors when removing & replacing the wheels
(blue styrofoam "1/2 tubes" that should have been with the car).

If you chip one of the CC brake rotors, it needs to be replaced.
Even at CF parts vendors, very expensive.

Ahhh yes the famed carbon custom. Only 7 2011 crm. First you can get 18 to fit over the ceramic brakes, but you will pay dearly. Some have done a full gt class conversion and it does work, doubt you will ever replace the brake disks however if you take your rims off be careful not to impact the disk on the edges for any reason, it will shatter, there goes 2500, in 19/20 you only have mich ps2 or cups. No other matched options are available.

Enjoy her

Actually nitto makes 19/20 combo that works on the factory gm cup wheels.

... but those Invos are for cushy ride, low price, long tread wear and definitely not for performance work.
