Does anyone know if anyone makes a cheaper brake rotor for the ZR1?
I was thinking about buying one, but will be using it as a daily driver and switching the rotors to metal would save some cost for daily driving over the long run.

Daily driven the rotors will last the life of the car.
You won't be saving any cash by looking into alternatives.

I agree with what others have posted. You can track 1-2 times a year no problem and rotors will last for a long time. There are quite a few guys on here giving their carbon disks a real beating at the track. You will go through about 4 sets of pads(fronts) before you have to worry about replacing your rotors. If you are really worried about rotor wear you should get yourself some cooling ducts and run them when you're at the track. Heat is the killer of carbon rotors, get them too hot and they'll literally just evaporate. Keep your temps under 650 degrees Celsius and you'll be fine. You can get some rotor temp paint from AP Racing to actually monitor rotor temps. Also if you only plan to run street tires you'll have TONS more brake than tire and have even less to worry about.
Mikymu is the only one I know of who has went to a steel rotor and it cost him about 4K to make the change I believe. He did it mainly for the feel and precise modulation of the pedal if I'm not mistaken. His thread about it is in the ZR1 section, posted 3-4 months ago I think.
Do you just plan to do casual track days or time trial stuff?

I've got 94,000 street miles on mine and mine are still good. I figure by the time the mid engine comes out I'll be ready for the upgrade
If you re worried about the cost of the rotors you shouldnt be buying a Zr1!Do not put steel rotors on a car that came with carbon ceramic ones from the factory.Whats up with that?
