zr1 or stingray
Hello, wanted to ask this question to you zr1 guys. I had a 08 stock zo6 sold it couple years ago. looking for another vet and found a zr1 with 600 miles 3zr. for $73K. little afraid to buy with no warranty left. or would I be happy with the new stingray m-6 z51 and it's performance? does this stingray compare in performance to my old z06? I know the zr1 is quicker. I live in an area where you can stretch them out with no traffic.
thanks

From being on this board for the past several years, I have not heard of any people that are dissatisfied with their ZR1. Most are very happy.
But some will move on to the C7 Z06 in time or the next ZR1 when that gets developed...and that is to be expected. As for me, I don't plan to part with my ZR1. Even with all the hoop-de-la over the new Z06, the reality is that my ZR1 has far more performance and power than I could ever handle. The incremental differences or benefits of the new Z06 are only of consequence in 'bench racing' and for bragging rights. I am perfectly happy with my ZR1.
As to whether you would be happier with a ZR1 or a C7 Z51, only you can answer that question. I have never even driven a C7 Z51 so I can't comment or help you in comparing.
You have two good choices as I see it. Good luck on making your decision.

You might be answering your own question if the warranty is a big issue with you. Without the particulars it hard to tell if a dealer might could certify the ZR1 for you. Is so, I would definitely go that route with a car with mileage that low. That being said, I owned a Z51 Stingray for a short period and found the car to be quite capable. It has more performance than most of us really need but not as much as many of us enjoy having. It's not a ZR1 but it is a capable sports car.

Raw power and acceleration? No it is not equal. Around the track? From what I read its pretty darn close, the 2015 Z06 should about close the gap of they tweak it right.
All that said even though I do like the C7 I absolutely love my ZR1, it is a refined monster and an absolute blast to drive. An added plus...... you just don't see many of them and I constantly get compliments on the car.

I have both a 2009 ZR1 and C7 in the garage along with a 2008 Z06.
The ZR1 for $73,000 with 600 miles. I would say get your best price and buy it. I bought the ZR1 first then the Z51 C7. If it was to be I could only keep one car it would be the ZR1!

Just turned 20,000 trouble free miles yesterday on my 2010 ZR1. If it is a cream puff and without the vibration then it sounds like a bargain. It still amazes me that a car that easily competes with the best of the European exotics is so reliable and inexpensive to maintain. Since you said there is no warranty I assume that it is an '09 or '10. I would probably change all of the fluids immediately and maybe put in a new high end battery. And then, have some fun driving it.

read the sticky at the top. Some have had issues with the front rotors being out of balance. Odds are yours would be ok but strongly suggest a test drive to make certain you don't have a vibration in the steering wheel.

You mentioned you have long straight roads where you are. Sounds like you like to open it up. I would go with the zr1 until your ready to upgrade to the new z06 or zr1
Otherwise if you buy a stingray and a zr1 pulls up to you on a straight away your gunna get smoked
