Default Who sells a stroker short block for LS9?

I havent found many options:

1. LPE 417 short block - $10,250.00
2. Katech 416 short block - $14,400.00

418 LS9 rotating assembly from Texas Speed is $3800.00 and a brand new LS9 block is $3300 but I dont know how much I will spend on having it machined, assembled and balanced.

Any other options out there?

I guess you probably know that increasing the cubic inch will result in less HP? Why do you need a short block?

Could you elaborate more on this? I thought the bigger the engine the more power it makes. A 416 stroker keeps the OEM piston diameter.

Yeah a stroker is a bad idea. You can only provide a certain amount of air from the blower to fill a volume to drive the piston down. When you bore a motor out the combustion now happens in a bigger area and doesn't pack the punch of exploding in a smaller cube motor.

If you want more power you need to bump compression. Either go with milled heads or domed pistons.

I agree with R.C and Peter if something happened to your engine the biggest I'd go is 390ci with the stock blower.

I would buy a factory LS9 motor before buying any of the aftermarket bigger CI motors. The LS9 has proven itself to be very strong. If you decide to have a motor built IMHO it's important to actually be destroked- meaning have a bigger bore and short stroke. It's makes for a rev happy motor and cuts out some of the low end torque.

If you want to stay with stock blower, I agree more cubes isn't going to help. If you want to swap to a different power adder later, go for it.

ls9 block/etc doesn't matter once you start swapping the bottom end out. Any LS gen IV motor will work. Hell do a 5.3L block built to a 427 if you want.

I thought other blocks were diferent from the LS9 block. Will a LSX or LS3 block work without modifiations on the ZR1?

Yes, assuming you use the correct style crank for the dry sump system to work, or convert to a wet sump.
