Differences from ZR1 and Z06 and Grand Sport
Am very close to pulling the trigger on a 2010 ZL1 and if everything goes as planned today I should have it next week and can't wait.
I know the ZR1 has the 6.2 supercharged LS9 and big carbon brakes but I was wondering what other differences it has between it's Z06 and Grand Sport siblings? Suspension, ground effects kits, etc. I haven't ever seen one in person and going to look and test drive it this morning.
Also what do you guys think of the price? 66K. It has around 22K miles and is a 3ZR (sorry if this package id is wrong) equipment package. The seller says it is ni mint condition.
Thanks!

Assume you are looking at a 2010 ZR1.
Differences are the carbon fiber ground effects, roof, raised hood with window, rear spoiler full width.
Front fenders have the dual vent openings, seat embroidery, badges, etc.
Note that the special edition Z06 Carbon edition has the CF ground effects, spoiler, CF hood (no window), brakes, ZR1 wheels.

Thanks!
Thanks! Yes I am looking at a 2010 but also came across a 2011 with around 9k miles that might be had for a little more than the 2010. I understand they are essentially the same car... the '11 being 1 year newer and 13K fewer miles for around 4K more. Hopefully can see that in person today as well. Thanks again!

To answer your larger question.
The Z cars have aluminum fixed-roof frame and wide bodies. ZR1 gets a supercharged 6.2L. Z06 gets a naturally aspirated 7.0L. End result is that the ZR1 makes more power and the Z06 is lighter. Pick your poison. Both cars come with dry sump oiling. ZR1 comes with the aero kit goodies, magnetic ride, carbon brakes. Z06 doesn't come with these as standard, but there were option packages that would give it such equipment (Z07/Carbon package). Both cars come with very wide tires. Base Z06 is 10mm smaller per corner (275/325 vs 285/335), though Z06s can get the larger sizes too. Dual mode exhaust was standard.
The Grand Sport has a steel open roof frame, the same the base C6 uses. The Grand Sport only has a dry sump on the manual coupes. No autos, no verts. It has the wide body and uses a lot of the goodies off the Z06. It has the base Z06 brakes and uses the base Z06-sized wheels and tires. There was no option to get the carbon brakes or aero kit from the factory, though you could retro fit it. Magnetic ride was an option. Dual mode exhaust was an option. Naturally aspirated 6.2L. Heavier than the Z06, about the same as a ZR1 but without the supercharger. Grand Sports can remove the roof, Z cars cannot. Grand Sports also had an optional automatic, the Z cars were only 6 speed manuals.
There are few other smaller differences but this should cover the main differences
All are great cars, you will love any of them. Good luck with your purchase.

ZR1 also has a fully forged engine - pistons, connecting rods and crankshaft.
Along with twin disc clutch from the factory that can hold more power and beefed up axle shafts that can hold more power.

Thanks for your replies. Looked and test drove the 2010 and was very impressed. Very nice car although it didn't have the owners manuals and nav dvd. Purchase is thru Carmax and have 5 days to have it inspected by my local Chevrolet dealership and if all looks good it's mine. Carmax said they will reimburse me for any expenses in getting these items. Any other things that the car should come with? They seem like a pretty decent group to work with.
It has a painted front splitter... shouldn't it be carbon fiber like the side skirts and hood/roof panels? It looks as if the front bumper surround has been repainted and possibly the carbon fiber splitter has been repaired and painted.

Also a heavier torque tube to accommodate the extra power.
My advice to you would be to get the lower mileage '11.
1 year newer and 13K fewer miles for around 4K more is a good thing, especially if you don't have replace the splitter.
The '11 also comes with slightly different seats, (squared off headrests as opposed to rounded). It also included USB and banana plug inputs in the armrest compartment.
TR-6060 was new in '09 and was used in all models from '09+

My statement was referring to the fact the frame is aluminum and the roof is fixed. Not that the roof frame was made of aluminum.
