comparing ZR1 to Z06
Hey guys curious. In comparin a ZR1 to a Z06 assuming all options the same and assume Z06 has ZR1 brakes other than horsepower is the a huge difference between the two? r

I've driven both C6 models at Spring Mtn; on the street, and at the Texas Mile, I've only driven my ZR1. On the track (road course) the LS7 revs a bit quicker. On the street & at the Mile, the LS9 just keeps pulling and doesn't give up before the mile marker. I think the torque available with the LS9 exceeds that of the LS7 starting at as little as 2000 rpm (?).
A couple of guys I know from the CF who have had or have Z06s, and have driven both, tell me that the LS9 does feel stronger than the LS7.
So the add'l. 133 hp/134 lb-ft tq. is noticeable despite the roughly 150 lb--200 lb add'l. weight of the ZR1.
A C6 Z06 w/Z07 package is essentially a C6 ZR1 but with the LS7 engine.
But, both are great cars and you wouldn't be going wrong with either choice, IMO. Condition & maintenance records are of course key...

I have had both at the same time and I can tell you that the ZR1 feels just a tad faster than a bolt on Z06 with headers, race mufflers, with a CAI and a tune.
Stock ZR1 vs. stock C6 Z06 is not much of a comparison.

I have a Z06/Z07 which is basically a ZR1 with the LS7 engine. My buddy had a '10 ZR1. Both cars rode the same (which they should with the same suspension and tires), but the additional 133 HP made a BIG difference otherwise.

I ve also had both and the Zr1 is a little faster and i find a little more docile below 3500 rpm then it turns into a beast.Z06 was the best bang for the buck car i ve ever owned.

Roll racing the two I noticed that up to about 90MPH equal drivers the 2 cars are pretty close but once you start hitting triple digits the ZR1 will start to walk away.
As said above both are great cars and a real blast to drive. Just comes down to the cash you have, and if you prefer NA car or supercharged.

Owned 2 C6 Z06's. In stock form, the ZR1 is much faster, IMHO.
It's easy to get the C6 Z06 to the ZR1 levels with very minor modifications. The C6 Z06 is an amazing machine with NA 427. With heads, cam, and gears....LOOK OUT.

some people claim that they can match a ZR1 with just bolt-ons - headers, tune, intake manifold, CAI. I find this hard to believe, personally. I think it will also take engine modifications such as cam and heads. You are probably correct in that is not so minor. I've been very "de-sensitized" from years of modding so to me it's minor.

What are you calling BS on? The 0-200 run? I was there and saw it personally. It was also data logged on HPTuners. Car was making 600+ rwhp, had 3.90 gears, and a lot of extra weight reduction. It was on a road that had a very slight down grade and likely skewed the numbers a little, if it's the 26 seconds that bothers you.
Here is the road the run was made on:
